He needs to get to 7 championships likely to satisfy his own ego and Jordan-complex. This will make it tougher for him.

did it happen? because if it didn't it doesn't matter.

he's the big winner because he's no longer the easiest guy in the league to root against. the rape trial just got pushed further out from the collective memory.

i've never liked kobe, but i'll be lakers fan for the finals if and when they match up with the heat

Kobe tried to force a trade from a mediocre team to a young/talented team where he could still be the man.

Lebron left a very good team, passed up the opportunity to join a young/talented team where he could still be the man (Chicago), and signed in D-Wade's town.

Kobe is the new, solo alpha dog of the NBA and will be until Durant or Rose takes it from him.

He'd still only have 4 Finals MVP's to Jordan's 6. He rode Shaq's coattails to the first 3 titles.

Dave -- There was no actual rape trial...and, good as Shaq was those three years, he wouldn't have won a damn thing without Kobe either. They could have easily been bounced in 2000 by Portland and/or Indiana or Sacto in 2002. You've got to have two stars to win a title (94 Rockets excluded).

Bingo. For the three championships he won with Shaq, Kobe averaged 25, 5, and 5. I seriously doubt Shaq would have a single ring if it wasn't for the superstar guards he had.

i can't imagine anything that potentially makes kobe's road to another title more difficult would make him happy.

i think he'd rather lebron stay in cleveland with no help

Sheed, Rip, and Prince were all All-stars right close to that time.

In 2006, 4 of the 5 Pistons starters were All-Stars. The only one that wasn't an All-Star made the All-Defense team.

2006 =/= 2004, when again, none of them were on the level they were in 06 of star level

I can't believe I'm going to defend Kobe but ... he has won multiple titles with Shaq and without Shaq. Stop with the "road Shaq's coattails" garbage. Gasol is a nice player but at best, he's basically Kobe's Pippen. So while we're saying Kobe couldn't win without Gasol, let's go ahead and say the MJ couldn't have won without Pippen, Magic couldn't have won without Worthy, and on and on.

I understand fact. People don't.

Only two people know what happened in that room that night and neither have proven to be trustworthy. It is what it is. Call him a cheater, but no one will ever truly know if he's a rapist. Calling him one just shows lack of character and ignorance of what's truly known.

Everything you just said can't be proven. And there is plenty she did afterwards (and before) that doesn't help her cause. He said, she said = not real evidence.

I agree completely.

Kobe is still a POS for cheating on his wife.

His wife is a hot mess.

The race card is a tired argument.

Kobe acts like a dewsher all the time, people perceive him as a d-bag, so when they hear rape allegations they're more inclined to believe it, and perpetuate it.

Roethlisberger is a likeable 20-something with an aloof attitude. People are less inclined to believe rumors because he's personable and engaging. He doesn't appear to be a monotone narcissist like Kobe appears to be.

I doubt it has much to do with black/white for most people. If anything I find myself being more lenient on black athletes for the sake of not wanting to be racist, which is racist in of itself.

I agree soup...he is a POS for cheating on his wife. He never should have got married that young to begin with (where have I heard that before...).
