Check out this quote by Michael Heisley, Grizzlies owner, in interview on 3 Shades of Blue.

3SOB: You traded the 25th pick to Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks. Were other teams offering a similar deal for that pick and does it concern you to trade within the division for rookies?
MH: There were several teams offering the same terms. I chose Dallas because Mark is a friend. It doesn’t concern me that he is in our Division

I suppose as much money as Cuban has paid the Grizzlies, Heisley felt it necessary to help him out.

I think Gilbert is playing a script.

He just lost a huge money maker and he's got to worry about fan depression/let-down in sells.

He goes out and demonizes Lebron and makes these grandiose statements to get people riled up and buying tickets.

There are so many other things to rail on Cuban about, but this is less than nothing. Nothing he said was even a little bit controversial, dramatic - or incorrect for that matter - no matter your stance on Lebrocalypse.

I thought the letter by the owner was out of line, but I understand his reasoning. Creating a rallying cry and making Lebron the enemy is his only angle at selling tix right now. Can you imagine working ticket sales for the Cavs? Your job just got a lot harder...
