I feel very good about this deal.

I think this will help RJ get his mind in a better place and he will play a lot better ball in 10/11 for the SPURS.

I think being the highest paid SPUR not named Duncan messed with his head and his ability to adept to Pop's style of play...

Congrats on winning the Richard Jefferson signing sweepstakes. No doubt all the teams with remaining cap space were fighting to give him 4 guaranteed years at 35+ million and the Spurs really stepped up.

Thankfully you don't have to pay him 15mm this year. You will now pay him 11mm in 2014.

I agree that he will be much more motivated now that he has a long term deal and doesn't have to worry about playing in a contract year.

This and the Splitter signing show that the Spurs are ready to become a top 3 defensive team again. (/bitter Mavs fan)

15.2mm this year PLUS luxury tax. Spurs had to overpay him to keep him because they were up **** creek if he walked, like many other teams having to overpay a bit to keep their own players.

I believe 2014 is unguaranteed, at least partially. So basically, 3y29mm or there abouts. Overpaid for sure. But if Jeff didn't opt out, the Spurs were on the hook for 15.2mm and most of that was over the luxury tax line, so they would have been paying him nearly 30mm this year alone.

Financially, not a horrible disaster.

And you guys are missing the bigger picture. The Spurs signed GARY NEAL yesterday!

Doesn't matter. The entire NBA will implode after the 2010-2011 season anyhow. This year is everyone's final championship window.

RJ doesn't fit with the Spurs. Not sure why he re-signed with all those temas out there with cap room.

No one has cap room anymore. Everyone used it.

I'd like to see way more production from him. Seemed lost and out of synch when I'd watch him.
