You gotta send at least one of Okefor/Posey with Paul. Probably both. New Orleans has to get cap space/draft picks/young talent/ending contracts.

To Charlotte:
Paul/Posey/Okefor
To NO:
Gerald Wallace
DJ Augustin
Devin Brown
Dampier's contract

In this senario, NO saves 19.12 off the cap immediately, plus get a all-star level SF, a young PG and probably some draft picks.

Posey/Paul/Okefor to Houston for
Yao
Brooks
Battier

NO gets Yao, who they can possibly make money off of. Battier is a guy ever team would want. Brooks is exciting and can score, but kinda redundant with Collison. NO saves about 5mm immediately.

Paul/Okefor to Knicks for
Eddy Curry
Wilson Chandler
D. Gallinari
Toney Douglas
Ronny Turiaf

Hornets save about 5mm immediately and get three young guys with upside. Knicks dont really have any picks to include.

Okefor/Mozgov
Amare/Randolph
Azubuike
Bill Walker
Chris Paul/Felton

To Lakers:
The only real attractive thing here is Bynum for 2 more years and Sasha's ending contract. I doubt NO wants to take on Odom's contract or Walton's contract.

Posey/Paul for Bynum/Sasha works

Chicago really doesn't have any contracts to trade and they already have Derrick Rose anyway.
Paul+Posey for Luol Deng/Taj Gibson/Derrick Rose?

Nets:
Harris is the only player making over 4mm.

Magic:
Vince Carter will probably have to be involved, which will probably kill it. And what would Orlando do with Okefor?
Paul/Posey/Nelson for
Carter
Gortat
Jameer Nelson?
Bleh.

Oklahoma City:
Extra difficulty, they can't trade MoPete back to OKC.
Okefor
Paul
Posey

for

Nick Collison (1 year left)
Nenad Kristic (1 year left)
Russel Westbrook (young, 1 year left)
James Harden (young, 1 year left)
Sefolosha (young, good contract, but for 4 years)
D'Quan Cook (1 year left)

Okefor/Mullens
Green/DJ White
Posey
Durant/MoPete
Chris Paul/Eric Maynor

Need another SF/SG now, but thats a solid team.

NO:
Kristic
West/Collison
Green/Wright
Thabo/Cook
Collison/Westbrook

Portland:
Paul/Okefor/Posey
for
Oden (ending)
Pryzyzbilliiliillyza (ending)
Andre Miller (I think partially guaranteed for next year)
Batum (upside)
Bayless(upside)
Rudy Fernandez (upside)

Portland is now:
Okefor/Camby
TheMarcus
Wesley Matthews/Babbitt/Posey
Roy/Matthews
Paul

Portland loses their depth, but that starting 5+Camby is pretty great.

****. Dallas already traded DUST. I doubt NO wants Kidd.

Posey/Paul/Okefor for

Tyson
Ajinca
Butler
Roddy Buckets
JJ Barea

All 5 contracts are ending contracts. NO saves about 5mm,

Haywood/Okefor
Dirk/Mahinmi
Marion/Posey
Terry/Stevenson/DJones
Paul/Kidd

Do you say **** it and start Kidd and Paul?

There is no way in hell the Rockets would ever trade Yao

he's worth too much money

Rockets Get:
Okafor
Paul

NO Gets:
Battier
Jeffries
Brooks
Hill
Anderson
Knicks First Round Pick 2012
Rockets First Round Pick in 2011 and rights to switch picks w/ Knicks

NO shaves 5 million off payroll this year
Only Anderson under contract past this year so they can save as much as $47 million from the deal in the next 3 years

Every player NO gets should break their rotation
NO would probably end up flipping Battier on to a contender for other assets. They have a glut at SF and he would have a ton of value to a contender at the deadline
I think Houston would play Okafor alot at PF alongside Yao and Miller would be the primary backup Center

Houston Rotation
PG-Paul/Lowry
SG-Martin/Lowry/Taylor
SF-Ariza/Buddinger
PF-Scola/Okafor/Patterson
C-Yao/Miller/Okafor

NO Rotation
PG-Brooks/Collison
SG-Posey/Collison/Wright
SF-Battier/Peja/Posey/Wright
PF-West/Hill/Jeffries
C-Hill/Jeffries/Anderson

I'm not going to get my hopes up, but that would be a hell of a lineup that could compete in the West since they would have plenty of height in the frontcourt to compete against LA

How do the Rockets get money from the Chinese? Obviously there are a couple ads on the court. But with the team I suggested, the Rockets would be a championship contender, and they could make those couple ads up easily.

Jersey sales, t-shirt sales, tv ad sales, etc all go into the NBA pot which are equally distributed among all teams.

I've just never understood this. Obviously, the Rockets get a ton of exposure from Yao.

I think making deep runs in the playoffs would get you better exposure.

Yao/Miller/Okefor is ridiculous.

Why Dallas does it? Duh.

Why NO does it? Chandler, Butler, and Stevenson are all expiring contracts, and you can start Roddy right away and get him playing experience and hope he's the next superstar there.

Does Roddy need to be in that trade for it to work?

I doubt NO wants Chandler back after trading him FOR Okafor.

If they're just looking for expiring contracts, then Roddy would HAVE to be involved, otherwise you're giving away the best PG in the NBA for a salary dump.

Even if Beaubois is involved, I can't really see NO making that trade for a poor man's CP3 (RB3) and a little financial relief.

They've shown that all they care about is making money, so with CP3 out the door already, they might as well save a little more.

i dont think the hornets are going to want a pg as a centerpiece for the trade...ie brooks or roddy b or westrook. collison proved last year he is going to be a good pg while filling in for paul.

NO will need to get a whole lot more than just 1 young player and salary dump in order to make this happen. And when that 1 young player plays a position they don't need, it ain't happening.

I can't see a way that Dallas gets CP. They don't have enough young assets.

Even though CP has demanded a trade, that doesn't mean that NO has to trade him. There will be a big market for his services and they'll trade him to the highest bidder. I think they need at least 3-4 good young cheap players/first round picks + salary cap relief before they would pull the trigger.

I think it's more likely than not that he'll end up in Dallas, who can also include their 2012 pick if needed.

Not ideal, but depth at PG is not a bad thing to have. Also, RoddyB and Brooks are valuable trade chips AND cost next to nothing since they are on tiny rookie contracts. Any deal with Houston or Dallas will include those players. It basically costs them nothing to take on, but you aren't going to turn down depth or trade chips.

Assuming the relative health of that rotation, that's a championship caliber roster.

Houston trade wouldn't happen if yao was involved. The whole point of this is for paul to pair with another major player (and definitely not one of his own position). I'm not sure that what he wants matters all that much, but he could demand another trade if he landed on a team he didn't like.

NO won't take Hill, Andersen and Jefferies instead of Yao, either. They want someone that can sell them some ads, just like any team.

I think that Paul is on a Championship-caliber team without Yao. Deep. Strong on defense. Great on the glass.

Go with my senario of Battier/Brooks/Yao for Paul/Okefor/Posey:

Okefor/Hayes/Andersen
Scola/Hill/Jefferies/Patterson
Ariza/Posey
Martin/Buddinger/Taylor
CP3/Lowery

Your only hole on defense is Martin. Ariza, Lowry and Okefor are all great at D. So is Hayes.

What team could handle that depth? Ideally, you would want to upgrade Posey/Buddinger/Taylor to a single better player as you would want to do with Hill/Jefferies/Andersen/Hayes/Patterson. But having a 13 deep team that can hit the threes (Paul, Martin, Buddinger, Ariza, Andersen), can drive (Martin, Ariza, CP3, can post up (Scola, a little with Okefor and Hill is developing), rebound (Scola, Hill, Okefor, Hayes), pass (CP3, Martin, Buddinger, Scola), etc

You literally have a team that can do everything. While there isn't a second star, I think if Adleman can really work this team well, you would have a Pistons 04-type team where you are so deep in talent that you can overcome the teams with 2-3 go-to players.

If you are pitching playing with Yao as a reason Paul needs to move down I-10, you are going to lose that argument. Yao is too much of a question mark to be someone players want to move to play with. But if you can sell him on a great team like the 04 Pistons, Houston is a perfect destination.

OKC loves Chris Paul, but no way we'd do a deal like that.

And Soup...you left Serge Ibaka off that 2 deep, he'll see way more minutes before DJ White or Mullens see the court ever.

This basically sums up my feelings on the Rockets making a move to acquire Chris Paul.

Cliffs Notes: Morey has done a great job amassing assets. Staying pat would likely leave us as a 5-8 seed. This is THE DEAL that Morey has been waiting for to push the Rockets into contention (not the favorite); but we're in the discussion with a deal like this.

Battier is so vastly over-rated, and I am a big time Rockets fan.
