quote:
Tony Parker's wife, actress Eva Longoria, was overheard last night saying the San Antonio point guard wants to come to the Big Apple.

The couple was at sold-out Red Bull Arena last night in Harrison, N.J., to watch their friend Thierry Henry and the Red Bulls lose 1-0 to the L.A. Galaxy.

When asked if Parker's presence meant he was coming to New York, she responded, "No, we're just here watching [Henry]." When asked if her husband wanted to come to New York, she quickly flashed a smile, nodded her head and said, "Yes."

Obviously it's the NY Post, so take it with a HUGE grain of salt, plus there's the whole "overheard" bit.

Still, I have heard this rumor more than once in recent months. Parker is a FA at the end of this season. Hill has shown some good progress, can he take over and have the team not miss a step?

parker wants to be the center of attention. he's as arrogant as they come. NY would be perfect for him.

He's not going anywhere this season.

I say trade him for a first round pick and a servicable younger player in a 3 team trade.
Hill, Splitter and Blair (and maybe D. Anderson?) are the future of the Spurs.

I'd love to trade him to the Knicks or Nets but you have to get something quality back. I wonder if the Nets would part with Lopez ?

The Knicks have nothing to offer in trade.

There could be a possibility that Melo and Parker sign on with the Knicks as FAs.

San Antonio is not exactly a happening city. The Spurs are great franchise but they are getting ready to go through a rebuilding stage, can't be helped, guys like Duncan don't just show fall off the tree every day.

Why in the world would the Nets even consider trading Lopez for Parker?!??!

They have Terry anyway, you got look at things through some sort of objective, not fan subjective point of view!

If you say so. I've watched his entire career pretty closely as a fan, and there's no indication that's the case. But whatever.

True. If Tony really wanted to leave SA he could have the last time his contract was up. I think he'd be fine with staying if he thought this team could compete for titles.

it's not that i say so. it's the members of the media who know tony pretty well say that it's always about him. he's smart enough to not come across that way publicly. but behind the scenes, it's all about how well tony played. i'm just repeating what i've been told.

Personally, I don't think Parker comes across as arrogant--he just always speaks his mind, no BS involved. If he does come across as arrogant, then SA as a city is proportionately ungrateful. We're talking about a dude who not only was the youngest starting PG for the Spurs, but also the most successful and talented PG in franchise history. When the franchise was openly pining for Jason Kidd in '03, Parker kept his head down and helped lead SA to the title. Raised his game every year after that, and has had to carry the load through injuries to both Tim and Manu. Outplayed LeBron James by any statistical measure in the '07 Finals, and has done everything the organization has asked of him, to include giving up his hard-earned starting spot to a second year George Hill in the playoffs.

Say what you will about Tony Parker, but he's more than earned the right to play where he will be appreciated.

Eva should focus on wanting other things, like getting electrolysis for that upper lip.

he is appreciated, but it's a business first and foremost. you can't get your feelings hurt when the team is looking at trying to get better.

personal friends, diet coke? i'm finished with this after this post. i've spoken with someone who has known him personally as a spur for years and says he is very ego centric. in response on this thread, all i get is "well i've been a fan so i know."

unless something crazy happens, the spurs aren't better with tony gone. so i don't hope it happens. all i was saying was that tony likes to be the center of the spotlight. and NY is the place to be for that. so it would probably be a good place for him.
