5 of 7 from beyond the arc v. Bobcats. He's got sweet, consistent form. Throw in healthy Big 3, Dice/Hill/Rocket/Blair & two good rookies, and we may have something this year.

I wouldn't throw RJ out. He's been a lot better than last year.

You lost me at Rocket.

The fact that that dude is still receiving playing time tells me everything I need to know about the Spurs chances.

Timmy is in great shape and looking good.
Manu's got a new contract and is playing lights out.
RJ is looking better than last year.
Neal and Hill have so far solidified the backup guard spots.
Blair is finally getting his chance as a starter.
Splitter is finally in America.
Dyess is Dyess.

And Matt Bonner is getting playing time? c'mon, man. I know it has only been one game, but I'll bet you anything he's getting regular minutes by mid-season.

I really like Neal. He adds another dimension that the Spurs haven't had in a few years.

One thing I've noticed is that the starters are playing horrible defense. A lot of times it's been the Spurs bench that have either extended a lead or shorten the other team's lead. I really like the lineup of Anderson, Neal, Tiago/Duncan, McDyess and Manu/Tony. They can really stretch the other team's defense while playing, IMO, the best defense out of any Spurs lineup.

The one thing I have noticed however, is Hill's lack of confidence. He just doesn't have it right now. I think it's unfair to play him at the 1. He's most effective with a play maker beside him.

IMO, this is the Spurs' deepest team in the Duncan era.

I don't know all the teams from 1999-2005 were pretty damn deep, particularly that 2003 team. The roster depth didn't really start trailing off until 2006.

If anything I'd say the depth has improved over what it was 2006-2009, particularly at the guard positions.

James Anderson fractured one of his metatarsals. Apparently, he's out for two months.

And the Spurs cut Garret Temple. I don't really understand why. He was one of the better defenders on the team.
