Or should I just assume that since it is a 9:30 start on a back-to-back that the Spurs will throw in the towel.

I honestly don't know what to think this year.

im scared about this one too. billups, k mart, and anderson are out tonight for the nuggs, but this has the feel of one of those nights either Pop sits a few starters or we just lay a fat egg...

Care to take a stab at why tonights game might be a little different than most of the others? Here's a hint: the Spurs are 1-1 on the 2nd night of back-to-backs this year, and have a history of dialing it in on such nights.

I'm not saying they WILL lose, but more often than average they HAVE lost in this circumstance over the past few years. It isn't pessimism, it is pragmatism. I go to the gym every morning at 5 am and I don't want to sit up all night to watch the Spurs lay an egg.

A 5-point loss to the Clippers on their last back-end game leads me to believe a towel was thrown, yes.

Flop? Are you a f***ing moron. Jeez. He plowed into him. God forbid someone try to play defense the right way when the game is on the line. As a help defender, that's all Manu could have done to win the game. He did it perfectly. Yes, you absolutely make call that. You call that a charge in the first quarter, so you call it a charge in the 4th as well.

Oh, and it was one of the most obvious charges you'll ever see. So I'm not sure what you are talking about.

That was the correct call, and it took a lot of guts for the ref to blow the whistle. Manu was set and out of the circle... awesome play (and I'm a Rockets fan).

There are these things called rules, CFTXAG10. That means that just because a game has 10 seconds left, a player isn't automatically given immunity to do whatever the hell they want. Ginobili got his feet set underneath him and squared up. Too bad for Carmelo.

that was definitely an offensive foul, but i can't believe they actually called it. Hell, that doesn't always get called in the first quarter.

i'll take it though.

Rockets fan here as well, but I am not biased against the Spurs. Only Texas team I dislike is the Mavs. I am a big Richard Jefferson fan.

^In reference to the above comments about the call, to me it appeared as if he ran up from the bottom of the circle and leaned into Melo to absorb the contact and then flopped. His reputation makes this an obvious move as he is known around the league for it. I applaud him making a Veteran move and stepping up to try and draw contact or make a play but I dont believe it should have been called that way....

overall great game, Spurs look good this year

oh, and Mass...you definitely were better off going to bed. The spurs mailed it in tonight. Duncan rode the bench all night. It wasn't even close at the end of the game.

Bad call. Ginobili essentially just ran into Carmelo and leaned back to make it appear as if there was space and Melo ran into him. That was the most gracious call with regards to being set I've seen in a while

Yea Mass you missed a good one, Spurs stay on this track they may end up the 1 or 2 seed in the West come playoff time.

Gutsy call by the officials but the NBA is better for it. It was a CLEAR charge and calling it makes the game a better game. Had they not called it then it would be another example to people that actually care about basketball who hate watching the NBA because it feels like an exhibition at times. I also love instant replay being used so much more liberally this year.

Bingo. He realized Melo had beaten his man and was going to get an easy bucket and did the only thing he could aside from intentionally fouling him. The refs fell for the clever little exaggerated lean back after he just ran into Carmelo's space. Look at the contact below the waist, it's initiated by Manu.

It was an obvious charge. Manu had his feet set before Melo left the ground. It was plain. Anyone who thinks that wasn't an obvious charge is either drunk, having their judgment effected by a bias, or doesn't know **** about basketball.

It should tell you something that both Chuck and Kenny both admitted it was an obvious charge and congratulated the official for having the guts to make the right call, even though it decided the game.

THe spurs got more bad calls than the Nugs tonight. THe call against McD for hooking the arm was dead wrong. During Carmelo's charge, one of the Spurs forwards (MdD again?) was being held.

I agree you almost never get that call on the road but it was the right call. On the replay you can see that 2 of the 3 refs call the charge. effing Manu G-I-N-O-B-I-L-I!!!

I stayed up and watched the game and I'm glad I did.

Tennerman- I've probably been watching basketball for longer than you've been alive, so you can calculate the amount of value I place on your opinion without taking your socks off. That said, I question the judgement of a person who can get personal on the internet at the drop of a hat. You might need to look into anger management counseling. I found a few links for you:
