If he is out for the year it could be better for the Mavs then if he had stayed healthy. Butler has been the Mavs number 1 trade chip because of his expiring contract and whichever team trades for him might collect insurance ( will need to get clarification from media on rules)

If the Mavs are serious about winning then they need a reliable 2nd scoring option. Butler had already shown that he was done as an all-star level player, so his trade value was always going to be as an expiring contract anyway.

I'm getting worried that they will do nothing at the trade deadline because they don't want to mess with the team chemistry. A Butler injury forces them to do something and his trade value may not be diminished.

And in the meantime Roddy needs to get on the ****ing court and fill the scoring void

Never happy that someone is injured.

Don't think Dallas is what is standing in the way of the Spurs and a title. Just another team with twice as many losses as the Spurs (which happens to be every team in the NBA other than the Celtics). If the Spurs can't win, I would rather a Texas team win than Miami, LA, Boston or NYC.

I thought it was scary looking. That's because anytime you get a non-contact knee injury you know it was something popping in there. Those seem to be the worst.

Art Garcia tweeted last night that it was thought to be a torn patella tendon. That's what they could see in the locker room. An MRI today will show if it is torn partially or fully.

On the dramatic knee injury scale, with Gilbert Arenas as a 0 and Shaun Livingston as a 10 I give this one an 8.

Isn't scary a subjective term? To me, scary is something that I FEAR could be season ending or even career ending.

The Livingston injury was scary and it was also gruesome.
