How is there not a single Mavs thread on the entire front page??

I know the team is not a contender anymore without Butler, but come on! 7 game win streak and 2nd best record in the Western Conference!

This thread is to show the Mavs some much needed love!

I love the Mavs tonight. They gave San Antonio another game of breathing room over the Celtics.

Sure looked like Dirk was limping a bit on that knee.

I wouldn't rule the Mavs out just yet. If everyone stays healthy now, they could make a deal and be right back where they were...not to mention Rodney Bubouis (sp) will be back at some point and he was turning into a major contributor last year. At the very least, they are fun to watch again.

The win streak is great. They're playing defense again and Dirk is a solid top 4 MVP candidate. But this probably means they won't make a big trade and will settle for roddy B and Peja to be the Butler replacement. I do like the crunchtime lineup of Kidd/Terry/Stevenson/Nowitzki/Chandler. I believe it is one of the best plus/minus lineups in the league

mavs are looking good again. starting to look like they may gain a few games on the lakers. hopefully the lakers don't end up in that 4th or 5th spot.

Isn't there still a chance that Butler could make the playoffs? He wouldn't be full strength, but could help the team.

They shouldn't be scared of seven game series against anybody. Mavs have played well against Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, and Heat.

birdman, thats what ive read about butler... and i'd feel much better about our chances against the spares if we have a somewhat healthy caron

I love the Mavs.....but they absolutely need a 2nd scorer to have any real shot at winning it all.


You look at all the top teams....and they all have at least 3 if not 4 guys that can score whenever they want.

JET should be the 3rd or 4th best player on a championship caliber team.......not the second best.

Keeping expectations low, as previous Mavs teams have taught me to do...

The one thing that still gives me some hope (maybe false hope) is that they have beaten every good team in the league (except the Lakers): SA, Boston (X2), Miami, New York, Orlando...

I'll enjoy the rest of the season, maybe even a decent playoff run; but I'll stay cautiously optimistic.

I believe they beat the Lakers last month. The Bulls are the only good team that the Mavs have not beaten yet.

Power rankings on ESPN showed the Mavs are 5-2 vs. Spurs, Celtics and Heat. 5-0 when Dirk plays.

I don't want to alarm anyone, but it's a tie game in dallas in the fourth. There's a very real possibility the streak ends tonight.

And I don't mean the mavs' streak.

Keith is right. They did beat the Lakers.
They beat SA early in the season, then lost when Dirk was hurt. I thought he played in their 3rd game.

But they have lost to Chicago twice, I think. Even lost to the Bucks twice.

As of today (2/9), the Mavs sit ahead of the Lakers by .5 game for the #2 spot. The Lakers have the toughest schedule remaining in the NBA, while the Mavs have the 19th.

(Note: 12 of the league's 15 toughest schedules belong to WC teams).

I can never remember how playoff seeding works. If Dallas has the second best record in the west, behind SA, they will be the #2 seed, even if/when LA wins their division?

Winners of the division must be a top 4 seed but it doesn't place all division winners as 1-3.
