Whoops, I brain farted and put international players in. Screw it, just give me your own personal Dream Team.

I'm guessing you're a Spurs fan? Tim Duncan, Manu AND Parker for a 2012 team!? Lmao

You chose Tony over Deron Williams, CP3 AND DWade...... I'd like to have sone of what you're drinking.

What gave me away?

I'd take TP over CP3 on any given night. He's been a hell of a lot more consistent this season. Your Deron and Dwyane argument is valid, but I just don't like the guys. Plus TP dishes it out a bit more than Dwyane does. Guy can be a hog quite often.

I'd put Blair on the team before Duncan.

Duncan's style does not mesh with international ball. Blair would dominate in that setting.

Just a wild guess lol. I'd take Duncan and TP 5 years ago but for a "dream team" I'd go a little younger.

PG:
Derrick Rose
Russell Westbrook
Rajon Rondo

SG
Ray Allen
Kobe Bryant
Stephen Curry

SF
Lebron James
Kevin Durant
Carmelo Anthony

PF/C
Dwight Howard
Tim Duncan
Kevin Love

I can't only see one player on that list who would be controversial, so I'll explain why I would keep Duncan on there. First, without Duncan you are running pretty low on guys who have won rings. Second, without Duncan there is only one true shotblocker on that team. Third, he is still a very skilled and productive big man even if he doesn't play many minutes. Ranking per 48 minutes among Americans:
Rebounding: 13th
Blocks: 5th (whether you count per game or per minute)
Assists (among SF/PF/C) : 2nd

I want Steph Curry because it puts a young guy at SG. Kobe and Ray Allen are great, but getting up there in years. Planning for the future, there needs to be some youth at every position. Derrick Rose can play SG; in fact, I would almost prefer to put him at SG than PG. Westbrook and Rondo are both dynamic at the point, with more assists and better defense than Rose. On a team like this, I like Rondo best at the point. He is a threat to score, but his first love is setting up everyone else. 12.3 assists per game, 2.4 steals, 4.3 rebounds, and an efficient (50% FG) if not prolific scorer is perfect for this team.

SFs are chalk, and at PF/C I'd like to see any team try to rebound against Love and Howard, or get to the rim against Howard and Duncan.

I would really like to get Blake Griffin on that team. How many spots is an Olympic roster?

Griffin is the best choice for the USA team, easy.

Replace Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Blake Griffin, and Chris Bosh for the foreigners on my original list for a USA team. Not sure who the fifth would be.

Not that it matters Shark but I wasn't talking about Duncan be a foreigner. It was Dirk, Tony, Manu and Pau. But anyways I read ur second post after I posted

For PF and C it would make most sense to take Howard, Love, Boozer, and Stoudemire.

Again, if you saw Duncan play international ball in 2004 (in his prime), you would know that his style does not mesh with international basketball. Even if the Olympic people wanted him, he already made a statement after the 2004 Olympics that he would not participate in international basketball again because he hated the officiating and the rules.

Durant and James should obviously play at SF. Anthony as a 3rd choice if one of those guys doesn't want to play.

At the SG, take Wade, Ray Allen, and Kobe.

At PG Paul, Westbrook, & Rose. (add D Williams if any of those guys pass on the opportunity)

That would give you:
Paul, Westbrook, Rose
Wade, Allen, Bryant
Durant, James
Boozer, Love
Stoudemire, Howard

This would be a perfect team for international ball because every player except Howard has a long shooting range. Boozer and Stoudemire would both be able to knock down international 3's.

This roster also gives you rebounding superiority.

I would have Manu Ginobili and a team of mini-Ginobilis to be his backup.

PG: mini-Ginobili/mini-Ginobili
SG: Full-Sized Ginobili/Mini-Ginobili
SF: mini-Ginobili/mini-Ginobili
PF: mini-Ginobili/mini-Ginobili
C: mini-Ginobili/mini-Ginobili

I'd also have an additional mini-Ginobili that could play combo guard and one that could play post.

DeJuan Blair is one of the most productive per minute bigs in the league.

7th in steals per minute (among C, 1st in steals per game and 2nd in steals per minute)
12th among centers in assists per minute (5th among Americans)
6th in rebounds per minute (2nd among centers)
33rd in FG%, 5th among American centers

The only place he isn't productive is in points, but over the last 8 games he has averaged 14 and 11 with 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. He's a capable scorer, but on a team like the Spurs or a dream team he wouldn't be expected to score a lot. Defensively he has been wreaking havoc. Long arms and quick feet result in a lot of steals and deflected passes. He has really improved throughout the course of the season, his early season numbers are killing his stats.

I wouldn't put Blair on Team USA at this point, but if you want a garbage man there is no one better than Blair.

There are too many good players in the league to put someone like McGrady on a dream team.

7.9 ppg, 3.4 apg, 3.3 rpg, 32% 3PT. The reason I haven't seen him play is because he's the 6th or 7th best player on an atrocious basketball team.

Stats don't show the whole story with McGrady. He's been the pistons best player this season. The dream team could use a veteran presence like TMac, think a current grant hill only 5 years younger. The youngsters need someone like that

This thread is hilarious and the idiocy/sarcasm has hit its peak with this statement. Even if TMac was the best player on the Pistons (right now it's Greg Monroe on a nightly basis), the best player on the Pistons has no place on the Dream Team, they're horrible.

How all of you are leaving off Deron Williams is beyond me. He's my top choice at PG, then Rose and CPIII battling it out for #2.

Maybe some people think "ability to score" isn't the only criterion that should be used.

Williams may be a better scorer, but Rondo is the best defensive PG in the league, runs a very efficient offense, and is one of the best (if not THE best) rebounding G in the league. He is also the current league leader in assists. IMO he is the best PG in the league right now.

Why WOULDN'T you want a guy like that on a dream team?
Hudson2508

Rondo was cut from the FIBA World team last year, I seriously doubt CPIII or Deron would have been cut. I'm not sure Rondo's game translates well to the international game. You need outside shooters and Rondo is a horrible outside shooter.
