No Kendrick Perkins was essentially the reason they couldn't pull it out in Game 7 last year. That team is built to win now and trading Perkins away for a young Jeff Green doesn't help. They're set at the wing with Pierce and Allen. Krstic? lulz.

This move is clearly aimed at Miami. Boston doesn't think they can get by Miami judging from this.

They're clearly not worried about the Lakers at this point. because they just gave up their biggest advantage against the Lakers. a tough big body to bully pau and bynum

What do you call a trade that makes both teams worse?

As a Lakers fan, Perkins was the one guy that really put us at a disadvantage. I don't see how this really helps OKC though. Perkins angry snarl routine isn't going to be as effective without KG standing behind him.

it makes the thunder better IMO.

but...it makes boston much worse.

i'd rather perkins be on the thunder than on the celtics. for some reason i just don't see him being as productive on a young, run and gun team. he's a bruiser.

the thunder just got a lot better. Instant offense off the bench in Nate Robinson, the big they've been missing all year in Perkins, if he's healthy.

The WC playoffs are going to be an absolute blood-bath, especially once the 2nd round rolls around.

If KPerk can stay healthy, very good trade. I thought Jeff Green was going to be better, but it can't be that hard to find a SF that will give you 15 and 5, can it?

But getting a post that can control the paint is very difficult. Plus he obviously gave the Lakers problems.

This move signals the fact that the celtics view the heat/bulls (and if they get past that the spurs) as their chief challengers to the nba title

they wouldn't have made this move if they thought they'd be matching up against the magic and lakers.

pretty big risk, but they obviously think having a versatile swingman in Green and a floor-spacing PF (when they sign Troy Murphy) helps them match up better with the heat/bulls/spurs

not being able to agree to an extension with perk also probly played a role in their thinking

You have to have a bruiser on the inside to win in today's game. That's what OKC was missing, somehow they got it for basically an above average forward.

Great move for OKC

Perkins and Mohammed are huge gets for a OKC team in need of some post presence.

A starting 5 of Westbrook, Sefolosha, Durant, Ibaka, and Perkins is salty. Then you have Mohammed, Collison, Harden, and Maynor off the bench. If Aldrich ever gets healthy, then that's another big to add to the rotation.
