Why is Houston trading Aaron Brooks?

he is not happy here, dragic is 6'3", we need someone bigger at the point

also will cost less money

i like this move, especially if the reports are true about phoenix giving us their first rounder too.

brooks was never happy being demoted to lowry's backup, so now you get a guy who is already used to playing backup, who has showed some flashes (though nothing consistent) and always plays hard.

and assuming all these picks are 2011 picks, the rockets would have three chances to win the lottery and have the 11th, 13th and 14th picks. too bad this is arguably the weakest draft since 2000.

Basically Rockets went from having two backup PGs on the team to two backup PGs on the team....great.

word is ish smith may be involved too. I'll reserve judgement for when the dust settles.

WTF is Morey doing? These seem like rebuilding moves, but with a team that's only 5 games out of the playoffs...Oye.

the way we have played this year with the guys we have, we arent getting the job done and wont make playoffs. why not make a change to switch things up, get younger, potentially better, and get more picks.

yeah, trading a backup PG for another backup PG is not a step backward in my mind, especially if you also get a 1st rounder.

battier is clearly better than thabeet, but we had depth at SF and battier was likely walking after the season anyway.

so while you got younger and picked up a couple 1st rounders, i don't feel like the current roster took a big step backward or anything.

the report i saw about the memphis deal said the 1st rounder was protected. didn't specify if it was top 1, top 10, or just lottery-protected though

I am fine with it. Dragic can hopefully at least play defense.

according to this article, the suns' 1st rounder is lottery-protected too...if they make the lottery, houston gets orlando's 1st rounder in 2011:

Dragic isn't bad at all. He's looked like a poor mans Nash at times--plus you get to watch him fight some sort of crazy blood feud with Sasha Vujacic anytime you play the Nets.

Good riddance to Brooks after pulling that crap against Memphis.

I thought Dragic was going to have a break out year this year after flashes last year, but like Brooks he has been hurt and inconsistant.
