Very nice. Considering they are basically a lock now for HC advantage throughout that's a great sign. Hardly a lock for a title but have to feel good about the Spurs right now.

On a sidenote I was listening the ESPN radio the other night and they had two guys on there talking and evaluating the West right now. One guy put the Spurs second behind the Lakers. The other put the Spurs 4th behind the Lakers, Mavs, and OKC. I just hope the rest of the league actually believes that and thinks this is the Mavs of a few years ago part II. This team couldn't be more different than that team. They are filled with rings and they have shown incredible toughness at winning the games that mattered. Tonight was just another example, when it counted the Spurs turned up the D to get stops and executed their offense to perfection.

These guys are really good.

They've lost 2 games at home all year. They are going to have to really collapse hard in the playoffs to lose.

They do fall asleep sometimes, but for most of the game they play damn near flawless basketball.

These nutjobs who keep making these predictions don't even watch the Spurs. Put this Spurs team in NY, LA, Boston, and they'd already be selling tickets to the championship parade & ring ceremony.

Last night was just one more amazing performance by my favorite player to watch since MJ. In so many ways, Manu is the most difficult man to guard in the NBA. His competitiveness rivals anyone in the league.

Great thing about the Spurs this year is that they have 6-7 guys who can legitimately put up 20 on a consistent basis, if asked to.

I'd say they've got a good shot, but I'd hardly call it a "lock". They've still got 2 games against Miami, 2 games against LA, 1 game at Dallas and 1 game versus Boston. Sure they've got a 6-game lead, but Dallas has actually been winning at a higher rate than the Spurs have since Dirk came back.

If the Spurs can split this Heat/Laker challenge coming up on Friday/Sunday, I'd feel better about calling them a "lock". But any way you slice it I think it'll be closer towards the end than it is right now.

I wouldn't call it a lock either, but it's damn near impossible for the Mavs to catch up on their own. The Spurs would have to not only lose all those games you listed, but a few other ones also. Don't see it happening, honestly.

Maybe "lock" is too strong but the math is getting awfully hard to beat. The Spurs have 23 games left to play with a 5 game lead in the loss column. They will have to start losing at a faster rate just to drop 5 games right now and that assumes that Boston wins out which is highly unlikely. They also aren't showing any signs of weakness or slowing down at all.

They've slowed down a bit. They started out 29-4. Since then they've gone 20-6. A lot of it has to do with the road trip, but they also played 6 really crappy teams on the road trip. They had no business losing to Philly (again).

But your point still stands; you have to get pretty picky with the numbers to find flaws.

I think it's great that 20-6 is "slowing down". Pop will make sure that we get the number one overall seed.
