San Antonio 51 - 11 0.823
Dallas 45 - 16 0.738
New Orleans 36 - 28 0.563
Memphis 34 - 29 0.540
Houston 31 - 32 0.492

One Rockets win away from having all teams above .500. No other division in the league even comes close.

Back in 2004, the Midwest Division was ridiculous.

7 Teams. The worst team was the Jazz at 42-40. 4 teams had 50 wins.

In 2008, every team in the SW Division had 50 wins except Memphis, because they sold their soul to Phil Jackson.

All above .500 now. I don't think I've ever seen it happen in the Southwest before, or any division in recent memory. I wasn't aware it happened in 04

This is taken from a post from this January, so it is dated, but I am copying and posting because it is from a brilliant and gifted poster.

The Southwest Division is far and away the toughest in the NBA again this year.

Every team in the Southwest has sixteen wins, which is better than any other division. Only one other division (Atlantic) has every team with double digit wins.

Southwest Division: 108 - 67 (winning percentage of 61.71%)
Southeast Division: 95 - 81 (53.98%)
Northwest Division: 95 - 83 (53.37%)
Atlantic Division: 83 - 90 (47.98%)
Pacific Division: 71 - 100 (41.52%)
Central Division: 69 - 100 (40.33%)

The Western Conference is definitely stronger.

West: 274 - 250 (52.29%)
East: 247 - 271 (47.68%)

If Houston and Memphis were in the Eastern Conference, they would currently be the seventh and eighth seed, and that is not accounting for the easier schedule of playing in a different division and conference.

Taking out intradivision games the disparity is more pronounced.

Southwest (30 division games): 93 - 52 (64.14% vs. external)
Southeast (36 division) 77 - 63 (55.00%)
Northwest (34) 78 - 66 (54.17%)
Atlantic (38) 64 - 71 (47.41%)
Pacific (36) 53 - 82 (39.26%)
Central (28) 55 - 86 (39.01%)

It is the only division where all the teams have a positive point differential
