oh lawd

quote:
Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling said during Elgin Baylor's wrongful termination civil trial Tuesday that he didn't know the accomplished basketball pedigree of his former general manager before hiring Baylor as vice president of player personnel in 1986, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

"I didn't know [about] that," Sterling said, according to the newspaper. "I hired him for $3,000 a month. I didn't really know what his role was. ... He was working in a mail-order company back then."

This makes me lol and is yet another reason why people are on crack if they believe the Clippers will be anything close to a decent team... even with Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon.

So what's worse? that he didn't know who Elgin Baylor was? or that he hired a guy he didn't know anything about?

I think there is a third option to the "what's worse?" category. Perjury. It's clearly a flat out lie from Sterling.

In his defense, he couldn't just look it up on the internet in 1986! I mean, how else would he know that Baylor was a HOF player for the other team in LA?

I've always been a big fan of the "I'm and idiot" defense. Its never been illegal to be stupid or incompetent.
