I went throught the Rockets and Grizzles reamaining schedules guessing wins and losses, and had the Rockets going 8-3 and the Grizz going 7-5.

Grizzles-
Jazz W
@Celtics L
@Bulls L
Spurs L
Warriors W
@Hornets L
T-Wolves W
Clippers W
Kings W
Hornets W
@T-Blazers L
@Clippers W

Rockets-
Warriors W
@Heat L
@Nets W
@Sixers W
Spurs L
Hawks W
Kings W
@Hornets W
Clippers W
Mavs L
@T-Wolves W

I then checked the standings and that would leave us each at 45-37 and tied for the eighth seed in the playoffs, in which case if the tie breaker is our head to head record the Rockets would be in the playoffs due to us being 3-1 against them on the year.

I'm aware that saying us at NO is a win and them at NO is a lose is a bit of a homer pick, but there are a few games that could go either way. All in all I think I actually like our chances and I'm excited about the rest of the season.

i think that home Mavs game will be interesting,

they will have nothing to play for and we may have everything to play for

I think it is worth keeping an eye on the NOH. They are 1 game ahead of Memphis and have a tougher schedule. As of now, all of their teams are in playoff contention, although the Jazz getting beat by both Houston and Memphis may put them in a tail spin, in which case that is two easy wins for NOH.

@ Utah
@ Phoenix
@ Los Angeles Lakers
vs Portland
vs Memphis
vs Indiana
vs Houston
vs Phoenix
@ Memphis
vs Utah

Portland has a tough schedule as well, and Camby just got hurt, but those guys are some pretty resilient *******s, so they'll just hang around.

Agree with Iowaggie. New Orleans is much more likley to crumble in the final part of the season.

That being said, the motto for the Rockets must be Win and the rest will sort itself out.

The Griz had a three game losing streak staring them in the face before Duncan got hurt. Had they dropped three in a row and gotten passed my the Rockets they may have mailed it in. But with Duncan on the shelf, things get a bit easier for them but also for the Rockets. This will come down the final day and the Rockets get the TWolves so things look pretty good for them.

The Grizzlies announced today that Rudy Gay won't return for the rest of the season.

Requires shoulder surgery.

Portland is a team to watch too. They've got the Spurs twice, OKC twice, the Lakers, and NO and Memphis... both of which should be very hardly fought with potential seeding and playoff implications on the line.

chuck hayes with his first triple double of his career, a game after kyle lowry had his first

Love the way chuck plays. Wouldnt want him playing for anybody else but the rockets.

Lets keep this going. Important 3 game road trip coming up. Get 2 outta the 3 and i will be happy.

Agree with Tomlin.
Don't worry about the standings and just play the same great basketball you have been playing; I find it hard to believe that at this rate the Rockets won't jump either the Grizz or the Hornets.

Rudy Gay is out for the year? How is this the first time I've heard that? That's huge news! That's actually really sad for Grizzly fans. They have to feel tantalizingly close to finally returning to the playoffs with actually a pretty compelling team.

I agree that New Orleans looks like they may also be an easier team to snipe, especially since they have the more difficult road down the stretch and we play them head to head. Of course, with Rudy Gay out for the Grizz, that changes things too.

The Rudy Gay injury isn't that big of a deal. Most of the run Memphis has made here at the end of the year has been without him. It isn't like he just got hurt and was carrying them on his shoulders.

David West out for season, MCL tear.
Can't find a link yet, but if it's true, Rockets can definitely take the Hornets' spot.

Grizzlies played a great game tonight vs Bulls but gave up too many 2nd chance points tonight and a little too much Derrick Rose at the end.

Grizz lose by 3 but missed a 3 at the buzzer that would have sent it to OT...

Spurs on Sunday in Memphis. Grizz need to win that one and finish the week 2-1 which is huge against 3 of the league's best teams.

At the end of all this, I see the Rockets and Grizz making it and NO on the outside looking in, particularly without West and with their schedule.
