Manu Ginobili scored 28 points and the San Antonio Spurs got a scare when Tim Duncan sprained his left ankle in a 111-96 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday night.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Duncan would be out "a while" but didn't have a timetable.

The injury looked potentially serious as Duncan lay on his side, clutching his foot with both hands, for more than a minute. The 34-year-old All-Star steadied himself with the help of trainers while limping off the court.

Probably about a 2 week time frame seems to be the best guess floating around right now. They might be ultra-cautious and wait until the playoffs to bring him back. It's not like they need to worry about their first round series against the Grizzlies anyway.

never want injuries on people.

this will affect the spurs' chemistry for sure. duncan's their leader. even if not the most important contributor.

Correction. Until their first round against the Rockets.

ESPN says he just sprained it, so hopefully won't be out too long

Duncan is retarded.

What an insightful comment AggieSportsGuy. Tim Duncan clearly has mental retardation, such as Down's Syndrome.

Wasn't Parker supposed to be out a minimum of 4-weeks with his calf injury?

Just sayin'...

Duncan figured out many years ago he was vulnerable to ankle sprains and so he wraps his ankles like nobody's business. That is what keeps these injuries from ever being too serious, though it probably costs him a hair of athleticism. If it had to happen this is the right time, hate for it to occur a week before the playoffs. Duncan will be able to fully rest (which is good for his knees anyway) and still get some good play time in before the playoffs to be ready.

The guy I worry about right now is Manu. I'd be just fine with him going down to about 15 minutes a game right now and limiting his crazy drives to the basket.

Always hate to hear about stuff like this, no matter what team someone plays for. Hopefully he recovers quickly.

You know your team is good when Mav's fans come on and "applaud" injuries.

Which MAV fan is doing that?

I'm a die-hard Mavs fan and I'm not applauding. Injuries suck no matter the team. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Manu even playing in the 4th quarter, up by 16, against Golden State, with home court pretty much locked up is insane.

Him continuing to go balls to the wall to the hoop like he did last night is just asking to throw this season away.

He'll be on the bench. Call me crazy but I don't see this as that much of a negative. Duncan basically gets to sit and rest for a couple weeks before the playoffs arrive. Dice, Blair and Splitter get some extra minutes to solidify their roles. And Duncan is now only the 3rd most important contributor to the team, so it isn't like they are going to lose a lot of games as a result.

As soon as I found out that the X-rays were negative I called this injury a wash. It isn't like Duncan needs any extra warm-up for the postseason, and it isn't like the Spurs are going to lose their place in the seedings.

Hopefully this will open things up for Tiago as we will need him in the WCF.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. Now the next injury to a star player (timing) will hurt us.

Espn reported that everything looks good structrually on the MRI. But he's on crutches.

I would like to see him return in 6 days with a home game against Portland so he can get in the game against Boston.

He was probably about to come down with a phantom "Pop wants to rest Duncan for a few games before the playoffs" injury anyway.

doubtful. that hasn't gotten the spurs anywhere since 2007.

they needed to keep the train on rollin. and they'd be stupid to not worry about LA.

fortunately for the Spurs Rudy Gay won't be playing. they might get out of the first round.

The Spurs kicked the crap out of the Hornets with 3 white guys on the court at all times. I'm not too worried about anyone catching the Spurs unless all the big 3 go down.

2007-2010 they had some legitimate injury trouble. Just two games ago Pop held Duncan out for the famed Trop Vieux "injury". It's hardly out of the question to think Pop would give each of the Big 3 a couple games off, especially Duncan.
