Butler joined some very elite company by making consecutive Championship games. It was the 19th time that a team has done that. (that's just counting UCLA's seven in a row as a single streak.)

Two teams have done it twice, so there are 16 other teams. See how many you can name... There are only a couple of tricky ones.

Without looking anything up:
UNLV
Michigan State
Duke
Kentucky
Kansas
Syracuse
Michigan
UNC
Florida

Some of those I'm positive about, others I'm only fairly sure.

EDIT: went and checked, all of those did it except for Syracuse and Michigan State. Syracuse was admittedly a shot in the dark, but I knew Michigan State went to a ton of Final Fours for a few years there.

Michigan did it, but both appearances were vacated so I don't know if that counts.

Could Indiana be in there?

edit--doe! Won plenty of championships but never appeared back to back in the championship game from what I could tell.

Houston

Those are all correct. As mentioned Indiana, Mich St, and Syracuse are not right. UNLV didn't make it either. Duke knocked them out in Final Four game.

Butler is first team from state of Indiana to appear in back to back title games.

I counted Michigan even though they were vacated.

Michigan and Houston were the only teams to lose both.

Georgetown? I know with Ewing they went to the championship game multiple times but there might have been a year in between.

Georgetown is correct.

They actually went 3 outta 4 years with Ewing. They went 1-1 in their back to back games.

University of San Francisco Dons, with Bill Russell?

Did Okie Lite do it under old man Sutton?

San Francisco went 2-0. Besides Russell, they also had KC Jones. That would have been awesome to see them play.

Okie St is correct. But it was in the 1940s when it was called Ok A&M. They won back to back titles.

Two more-random-than-educated guesses: California and Arizona.

Cal Bears - yes
Arizona - no

It was bothering me so I had to look up the rest.

Won't give it away for those still wanting to guess.

Probably should have remembered the mid-90's team that did it, but they haven't done all that well lately. That school didn't even cross my mind.

The 1962 winner I would have never ever guessed. Same for the 1954 winner. 1960 winner I might have guessed after awhile but not during that era.

Virginia?

Not Virginia. They made several Final Fours with Sampson, but never even made it to Championship game.

My earlier post was off a little. Those are your correct answers. But yall are only missing three teams.

Cincinnati beat OSU in back to back years, so that should be two more of the teams. I think Oscar Robertson was a Bearcat back then, but I'm not sure he actually was on those winning teams

The French Sailors of La Salle (and I admit to looking it up, but I think it is safe to say that anyone would have had to)

Those are all the correct answers.

Ohio State went to three in a row, winning one. Cincy also went to three in a row, winning two.

Would have been exciting to see two dynasties going head to head like that. Especially since they are just a few hours apart.

LaSalle was the final answer. I figured nobody would get it right.
