and as far as it being a 1 versus 4 seed, that shouldn't matter considering you said the spurs are going to crap out in the first round. by your estimations, the spurs will need a miracle to make it out of the first round, so a straight up bet in the second round (which is exactly what you said - see above) should be easy money for you.

I would argue that interpreting "I believe the Thunder will beat the Spurs if they play them" as...... the Thunder will beat the Spurs if they play them is a lot less arbitrary than saying something like that and actually meaning you think they will beat the spread.

In fact, it's not arbitrary at all.

Either you think the Thunder will beat the Spurs or you don't. If you don't think the Thunder will win the series but you think you can make some money off them beating the spread, SAY YOU THINK THEY WILL BEAT THE SPREAD. DON'T SAY YOU THINK THE SPURS ARE GOING DOWN.
