Currently look like the team most primed for first round exit.

the lakers are fine, they just don't care. they are waiting until they are down 0-3 in the first round before they'll flip the switch. they are bored. /simple

Kenny smith said pretty much that before the game.

The lakers were 3-6 last year going into the playoffs.

and you obviously didn't see Fish's halftime interview. playing down to the competition

Gasol and Bryant play 40 min apiece, pull out a close game in the 4Q. Parker, Duncan, Ginobili, McDyess sit this one out with the 1-seed already locked up. That's it, Lakers are back in business baby!

Eh, I'll take it. It's almost a rule in the NBA that if the other team is missing it's best player that you will play like crap. See it all the time.

How did that last game where the Spurs played everybody against the Lakers go?

Amercer, you are too smart to be a Lakers fan.

Then again, you hate God, so I suppose it is to be expected that you love the Lakers.

I regard Magic Johnson as evidence that God may in fact exist. Between that and Derek Fisher and Robert Horry's miraculous shot making I have to believe that He is a Lakers fan too.

I hate to do it, but I have to agree with Simpletard. The lakers have had pretty unimpressive stretch runs going into the playoffs before. Of all the teams in the league, if there is one that can "flip the switch" effectively, it is the lakers. I still consider them the favorites in the west despite the score last night.

That said, if Bynum is out indefinitely, they're in huge trouble. I think at that point you have to consider the Spurs the favorites.

Bynum will be back by round 1, count on it.

i hope bynum shreds every ligament in his body. world class piece of garbage.

The Lakers will have a tough time winning the title without Bynum. Bynum doesn't even need to be 100%, just on the court more than 50%.

If we're guessing, I'd say Bynum is at least missing round 1, even if nothing more than a precautionary measure.

Both Fisher and Odom said in interviews last night basically what coaches hate to hear. They just don't care at this point, and are looking ahead to the playoffs.

Agree with Simple and Mass. Despite their recent struggles, a healthy Lakers team is still the favorite in the West. If Bynum is either out or at less than 80%, I think the favorite label flips to SA.

also to clarify....my "at least", and my "bynum will be out till the WCF finals" are facetious...

i don't think Bynum will miss a single playoff game. at worst, i think it was a bone bruise. and he was more afraid of the results on the floor

You've gone from out until WCF, to our for round one, to he wont miss a playoff game - all in the span of a few hours. Just your typical Simple thread hijack.

Also, I don't know how you can watch his awkward knee hyper and consider it a bone bruise. Do you know what a bone bruise is?
Simplebay

do you?

The Chief Orthopedic Surgeon at Cedars Sinai (Klapper) hospital has stated that he thinks it's a bone bruise on 710am just now.

please look up the definition of facetious clay.

clay, the reason why i said that is because hyperextension is the #1 cause of bone bruises

quote:
Patients injured during domestic activities presented with an average bruise frequency of 34% (range, 22%-48%), with hyperextension producing the greatest proportion of [bone]bruising;

you should probably check some facts before obsessing over me.

I would hope he is closer to 100% than 50% for his own sake. Playing like that can just be a catalyst for a bigger, more damaging injury. I think the last thing any coach wants to do is trot someone out there less than 80%. You get in a six or seven game series, it is going to take a toll in the later rounds. I think they can get out of the 1st round without him, but the second round maybe a different story.

I think the Lakers are going to have a tough time anyway. Granted, I hope don't win it all as a Spurs fan, but I think the biggest problem the Lakers are going to face is depth. Think about this, no Spur logged more than 28 minutes last night using a 10 man rotation while sitting four starters. Mean while, LA had 5 play over 29 minutes, including Gasol at 40. LA is just not healthy right now, and unless they get that way quick, it will make it that much harder the further they get into the playoffs.

I know the Lakers can turn it on in the blink of an eye and they will be a dangerous team up until they lose a fourth game in a series, but the West is a little more wide open than it seems most people want to admit.

question....in your opinion was Bynum above 75% in the Finals last year, or the year before?

he was getting fluid drained from his knee between games.

There may be not such thing as a Bynum 100% healthy, you have to use a Bynum how-recently-recovering-from-injury health scale. It's like saying a "healthy Yao". relative.

even on Bynum's pathetic health status, getting his knee drained between games is probably not above 75% Bynum healthy, definitely not 100% healthy, and that was good enough to win the title the past 2 years.

No Bynum....no championship. see: 2008.

I am not going to disagree with you on that, but eventually it will catch up with them. It may not even be this year.

Even then, the Lakers still have depth issues right now. The road for them to three-peat is going to be a lot tougher this go round.

Settle down simpletard. You said yourself this information came from a specialist on the radio earlier in the day. It isn't like you devined it yourself.

actually i said bone bruise before the guy on 710am said it.

However, Phil said he thought bone bruise to a Lakers reporter last night, who tweetered it.

and jugding from watching it after it happened, i didn't assume it was serious at all. wasn't really worried.

It is rare for an athlete to suffer a bone bruise from hyperextension without associated meniscal or ligament damage.
amercer
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yeah, but there is a special clause that says that Bynum can only tear ligaments if Kobe runs into him.

you spelled...."against Memphis." wrong. it was Odom in 2009, Kobe in 2010.

both against Memphis.

therefore....come on New Orleans tonight.

Honestly I don't know why Memphis is tanking. The Lakers don't want to play them. Pau doesn't play well against his brother.
