First, I've neeeever been a fan of this clown. The entire PER thing is about as arbitrary a tool as there is in measuring value and performance, in my opinion. I mostly just shrug off his stuff since he was a niche writer/analyst.

Then, I started paying attention to his Power Rankings this season which are pretty laughable. Okay.

But yesterday on ESPN.com, they had their writers/contributors polls for NBA awards and I swear some of his picks were Tyrone Bigguns-esque:

He had Derrick Rose fourth on his MVP list and he had Darrell Arthur as his Most Improved Player.

Speechless.

Wow that is pretty stupid.

At least, Jack Ramsay had senility as an excuse for picking Ginobli as is MVP. Hollinger, though...

Jack Ramsay has the "best player on the best team" criterion in his favor.

His PER and Power Rankings are the best thing out there in terms of measuring players and teams.

If you read his Insider article on Arthur, he explained why he felt he was the MIP. He basically made up his own set of criteria.

Of course he's going to make picks that agree with his "advanced metrics" or whatever....I don't agree or disagree with him, but his job is to write about that crap so he's going to back it up by selecting awards w/ it.

I prefer the eye test.
