How about Bynum? I know, knees, etc.

If he is healthy though he is probably the 2nd best C in the league. And he makes his FT's. I was just browsing through a list of the best centers in the NBA, and other than Howard they're all really forwards. I guess you don't need a prototypical big man in the international game, but size and skill are a good combination.

Although if you just wanted to add someone to intimidate the French team with a nasty snarl, then I guess Perkins would be the choice.

Michael Redd?

Please tell me this is a joke...Michael Redd played a few minutes in the last few games of the season. He will have torn both his ACL's again by the time of the 2012 Olympics.

If you want a solid role player, get Andre Iguodala, the man plays shut down defense and can create his own shot if needed. Gerald Wallace would also be solid in this role or add Eric Gordon to the list. I would take any number of guys over Redd or Mike Miller.

I would also love to see Monta Ellis play international ball, it's just a shame that he doesn't really understand the concept of a team or playing defense.

It was more of an example of team USA always having a 3pt specialist (he was that guy before)

I forgot about Eric Gordon - he could definitely be that guy

+1000000

Deron Williams will be on it over Chris Paul. Better shooter. has knees.

pretty sure the USA can't afford the expenses on Chris Paul's knee brace alone. thing's a monster.

Rose
Bryant
Durant
James
Howard

D. Williams
Westbrook
Wade
Love
Griffin

Odom
Korver

I read a few weeks ago that there could be some politics with the Miami guys. As in Wade and James want Bosh to be on the team too.

I really doubt that Kobe will play the next time around. I could see some the young guys taking spots from older guys that need to start protecting themselves.

Kobe, Odom, Billups and maybe Chandler out.

Stephon Curry, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin and maybe John Wall in.

Solid. I'd still like to have an older vet in there if Kobe decides to pass. He and Jason Kidd's value in 2008 couldn't be overstated. I would maybe sub out Steph Curry for Eric Gordon.

I really would like to squeeze in Al Horford, Aldridge, Noah, Rudy Gay or Gerald Wallace in there somewhere. The league is pretty stacked with talent right now.

I like Gordon over Curry too but Curry shot .442 from 3 as opposed to .364 for Gordon. Holy smokes.

I think Iggy gives a nice veteran presence, as does Wade, Bron, and Melo.

All of those would be solid but like you said, so much talent. I would love to take Zach Randolph along to scare all the Euro's off the block. He would send flop percentages through the roof.

The thing regarding veteran leadership and LeBron and Wade is nobody really knows how their free agency deal has affected their peers' opinions of them. Wade, by all accounts, is a pretty well-liked guy and his image didn't really change after the Decision. He stayed put as expected. His visit to Chicago was kind of off-putting.

I know there is a definite riff between Miami's three and Derrick Rose.

I also remember reading that their friendship with Dwight Howard off the court has waned a little bit due to the already pissy Orlando/Miami rivalry.

And everybody hates Chris Bosh.

And then there's the whole LeBron-barely-making-the-team-because-of-his-ego thing in China.

Considering Colangelo and Coach K are calling the shots coupled with the startling emergence and chemistry of the guys who played on the WC team (Durant, Rose, Gordon, Gay, Westbrook, Love, even Odom this year), who knows how it will play out. A lot of things have happened since 2008, so it'll be interesting to see the make-up of the team. I think the talent level of the NBA has been broadened enough to allow for players who may not be superstar-caliber players to get a serious look because of what they add with chemistry and fit.

I love the idea of leaving Bron, Wade, Howard and Melo off for players that care and work well together.

Here is my 2012 team revamped for players that would play best as a team.

1. Derek Rose PG
2. Andre Iguodola SG (Wasn't sure who to start here but I think Iggy fits nice with Coach K)
3. Kevin Durant SF
4. Blake Griffin PF
5. Kevin Love C (he can shoot, board, and D-up. Perfect for international ball)

6. Eric Gordon
7. Stephen Curry
8. Russell Westbrook
9. John Wall
10. LaMarcus Aldridge
11. Al Horford
12. Rudy Gay
