It's borderline between a fine and a one-gamer for anyone but Artest. With his history there's no telling what they might do.

Physically assaulting a player in a way that has no context with the game and you guys think it will only be 1 game? Also, how can you call that borderline? What does he have to do to make it a clear suspension worthy offense? Stab him? Shoot him? Punch his mother in the face?

If you watched it live, it wasn't as violent as the picture makes it seem. Anyone else I think it's innocuous enough to only be one game, but it's Ron Artest. He might be gone for many.

It's a big deal because it is "Mr. Go Into the Stands" himself. Artest can't skate with a fine on this one. I think he's getting 2 games.

Anyway you look at it, it is just a stupid move. Except for the arm being out, it looks like he's setting a pick on Odom who definitely came out on the worst end of the deal.

Can the mavs refuse his suspension? I honestly would rather him play than let Barnes or Brown start and possibly play well.
I thought that 2 years ago Rondo would be suspended for the Hinrich foul and the Brad Miller face grab, but nothing happened.
It makes me less sure that Artest will be suspended.

The thing to remember is that this happened well after the game was decided. If Artest does that in the third quarter of a close game, you could argue that it was simply an accident while he was attempting to set a pick. However, this came with the game all but over, with 25 seconds left on the clock and the Mavs up by 11. It was much more likely to be perceived as an act of frustration/malice due to the fact that there was no reason for him to be there.
