ESPN doesn't seem to think they are playing anyone. Had I not watched Mike and Mike as I was getting ready this morning I would have never known they were playing the Mavs. It's kind of funny to think a "national" network like ESPN would be so ridiculously Laker-centric to the point of not even mentioning the opponent in entire segments.

The attention they are getting right now is all good from my perspective. I'd like to see a few more meltdowns in the media from them.

The reason no one is talking about the Mavs is because this might be the end of the Laker dynasty and the end of the Phil Jackson era. No offense to the Mavs, but they just aren't as relevant on a national stage.

Agree with accountant, but I will say that I've seen plent of national press about Dirk. Seems like people are learning for the first time what kind of player he is.

'First time'? He's been a major player in 2 Olympics, won the MVP and been to an NBA Finals...?

He also was part of a team that choked about said finals, been part of a widely recognized soft team, and participated on teams that routinely choked in the playoffs...He's not Wilt Chamberlain folks...i'm sorry to say, but he's just not.

dirk has choked? like duncan this year? and garnett his whole career except 2008?

not sure how a player who is one of 4 in history to average 25 and 10 in the playoffs is a choker.

You might want to go back and read my post...not once did I say Dirk Choked...i did however say that he was part of teams that have choked big time and has the "soft" reputation in the playoffs.

I love it...you can't disagree w/ any opinion unless you're "butthurt". I'm sorry I don't have a lovefest for Dallas. I was there when they lost to Golden State, I watched when they lost a 2-0 lead in the Finals...I've seen them play soft year in and year out. But if you'd like to go off hopes and dreams be my guest, I'll just be "butthurt" and watch the games objectively.

Shhh, you'll be accused of being "butthurt" if they hear you.

they're in a good position to be in. the mavs are playing solidly like themselves, and the lakers are playing terrible and not like themselves.

when the lakers were up 16 and let the mavs back into it, tide turned. or had kobe's shot falling at the end of game 1, the mavs would be singing a different tune.

we'll see what mavs, and more importantly, what lakers team shows up in games 3 and 4.
