Does anyone know how the Mavs fared for the season against these two teams?

Doesn't matter, they got nothing to worry about next round. Mavs in 5 over the Thunder.

6 at worst.

Mavericks:
2-1 against Thunder
1-3 against Grizzlies

Any of those wins against OKC come after the trade for Perk?

Quick guards like Westbrook scare me, Chandler will have to be on his game because RW will be able to move around pretty freely against Kidd.

These are the kinda threads I remember after going up 2-0 on the heat in 06.
I wanna see that last chicken hatch before I get too cocky.

Truth. Looking past LA even with a 3-0 lead would be a mistake, because if any team can be the first to lose after going up 3 games it's Dallas.

Something to consider for Mavs fans.

Game 7 for the OKC-Mem series is scheduled for the 15th. There is something to be said about getting a rest, but there might be a concern about getting rusty or blowing momentum.

They could have a 9-10 day rest. I wonder what the record is for game 1 when a team has a rest over a week.

However, it doesn't matter who they play if they are hitting their 3 pointers like this.

Let's further the discussion now.

I think that we match up more favorably with OKC, but we should be favored against both. I still haven't been extremely impressed with Memphis, other than Z-Bo's excellent playoff run. Am I missing something?

I'm more worried about playing the Grizzlies. They match up well against us.

The Lakers looked like a bunch of statues on defense after watching Memphis.

Memphis scares me a little more.

My biggest fear is the Mavs just got done with a very pathetic LA team while the winner of the Griz/Thunder series will have just gotten through a tough series and be used to playing at a higher level.

The mavs made the lakers look pathetic. If you think the lakers are a pathetic team, or that the mavs weren't having to play at a very high level to win this series, you are not very smart.

My first blink reaction says I don't want to play the Thunder. "Kevin Durant will not be a factor in this series" - I could see him elevating his game to the pantheon like so many other young stars have done vs the Mavs in the playoffs. Worried about Ibaka on Dirk much more than whatever Memphis tries. Memphis is just a feel good story that has to end at some point.

I don't think most people give either the Spurs or the Grizz the amount of credit they deserve. The prevailing wisdom seems to be that the Grizz are a typical 8 seed, whose best player is on a hot streak, and they got lucky in drawing a team that was headed in the opposite direction.

The fact is, the Spurs were the best team in the WC this year in the regular season, and Memphis shut them down. Memphis had either an even or winning record against just about every other western conference playoff team, including 3-1 against Dallas.

Memphis plays the best defense in the conference. They have the best 1-2 punch on their front line. They have tough, physical wing players who can slash and draw fouls, and who can shoot from the outside. They are a lunch-pail team, and Dallas won't be having any 3-point clinics against them. The Spurs were the best 3-point shooting team in the league this year and look how they fared against the Grizz.

Obviously Dallas has their own advantages, and I could easily see them in the Finals. But I think Memphis will be a lot tougher than most people realize, and I think they are just as likely to beat Dallas.

If somehow OKC takes out Memphis then I'd say Dallas is a shoe-in. I just don't see that happening.

I'd rather play OKC than I would Memphis at this point.

Thunder will be a much easier matchup then Memphis.

Either team I see the Mavs winning in 6 games.

Yes? Do you honestly think Dallas is better than Memphis. Did you
watch them play in the regular season? Cause if you did you would know this is not the case.
Memphis won the series 3-1 and outplayed the Mavs except for the loss. Memphis dominated the
paint and the Mavs were powerless to stop them. I fully expect Memphis to make the NBA Finals.

Tell me what else you fully expect.

Just fyi, the Mavs tied the Blazers in the regular season and lost to the Lakers 1-2. The regular season matchups don't always determine the postseason winner.

Commentators talk about how well JKidd is after a week off.

A team that is gelled isnt gonna break down, because they are having scheduled practices.

Outplayed? 2 of the Mavs losses were by ONE point (last second shot on one) and the other was the second night of a back to back in the middle of a 6 game losing streak. Right after the Butler injury.

So with those facts clarifying things, please tell us exactly how Memphis outplayed the Mavericks this year. Mem was 2-2 against the Spurs and beat them in 6, and 3-1 against OKC and is down 3-2 in that series. Regular season means nothing now.
