Either he will choose his next team to win more titles or he will be the only baller on his team and it will be his team.

I think he will continue to rack up points until he sets every scoring record and then extends them.

yeah that would be his only hope, if they somehow got howard. But unless they get him this offseason or next, i don't even think that would be enough.

should be interesting in the West next season. Mavs/Lakers/Spurs are all old, Memphis and Denver are question marks, OKC and Port very talented but young and might not be ready to take control of the conference. The rest of the teams are bad.

And on a side note the lakers clearly had a better post season than the spurs, they won a series. Seems pretty easy to understand.

Bill - Kobe scored 81 once, but Wilt had 100 in a game, so I doubt if Kobe will ever touch that scoring record.

Kobe has avg 25 pts per game over the past 3 seasons - Wilt avg 50.0 PPG his best year !!!

Don't think Kobe will ever come close to touching that one.

KB would have to keep scoring AT HIS CURRENT PACE WITHOUT LOSING A STEP & without ever missing a game to injury, for 6 more years to become the all time Lakers leading scorer.
I don't think that's going to happen either, although with a LOT of luck, it might be possible.

Athletic ability in 1960's <<<< now. Wilt was far ahead of his time. For various reasons, there will never be a situation like that in the NBA unless some guy with Yao's height and LeBron's body is born.

Laura -- Kobe has scored more points as a Laker than Kareem. Kareem has scored more as an NBA player.

LaurAg, all fine points. Kobe is unanimously a HoFer. I will mention this. A few years back when Phil was rebuilding and Kobe wanted out, Phil made Kobe spend the first half of games feeding his teammates. Then in the 2nd half, Phil lets Kobe do work. The philosophy is you get the shooters firing and the opposing teams focusing on the other 4 guys and Kobe can get hot whenever he wants to. He took a massive hit in his PPG during this time but some would argue it yielded him two more rings.

Ironically this was the same time when the worm started to turn with Avery in Dallas, who worked out a Kobe=Dirk trade (and a KG(minn)=Dirk), but Cuban would have none of it because Dirk is the face of the Mavs and the only remaining player of the Big Three.

Kobe's 81 is more impressive than Wilt's 100. Only a person who doesn't know much about basketball would dispute that.

Yeah -that's why there is an asterik next to it saying * But better than Wilt's 100.
