It seeemed like the team was on cruise control (good or bad).

He would let them play thru bad stretches and didn't seem to call loads of timeouts

To me, he always reminded me of the old westerns where they display a corpse in a tilted casket next to the road.

Personally, I can't believe they signed and played blake and barnes. All blake did is dribble down and pass.

also, fisher needed to go - when your stating PG gives you nothing (points/steals/defense) that is a huge problem.

Terrible GM work in the offseason, if you could have upgraded fisher/blake and barnes (which would have been very easy), the team would have been lots better.

How would the series have changed if the lakers and mavs had traded fisher for jj barea last offseason? Pretty amazing that JJ (he is my size for goodness sakes) had that much of an impact on the old champs

Yeah I'm sure that 13 finasl appearances and 11 championships in 20 years are just a coincidence.

Think of that. An "average" season for Phil Jackson ends up in the Finals, and "below average" is a loss in the Finals.

He is like Mack Brown. He is a master at managing egos, motivating players, and assembling assistant staff that complement his weaknesses. He is quite simply one of the top 5 basketball coaches of all time, at any level.

I was talking specifically about this year. Swept in 4 games, two of which weren't competitive. He said he was glad the season was over. I think he checked out long ago..

Don't want to take away from his past coaching performances though..

Well if you're talking specifically about this year, you can throw this out:

Jackson has been notorious for doing this his entire career.

I think he definitely checked once the playoff drama started this year.

However, Best NBA coach ever.

Jackson is one of those coaches that's always believed in letting his players play through bad stretches. You don't always have a timeout.
