We pulled the trigger on a 52 inch Sony 3D TV last month. I was reluctant to get it b/c I thought the 3D would be hokey and we would use it sparingly, since we don't even own a blu-ray player yet and we aren't gamers (we have little ones)..

Anyway, last night we watched the Mavs game on ESPN 3D and it was amazing. It felt like we were right there in the AAC. And no commercials except for ESPN and some PSP games. The glasses are comfy as well.

Highly recommend! Anyone have it???

We bought a 3D Sony a couple of months ago, but I know zip about 3D. First, [never mind; found it]. Second, how important are the viewing angles?

When I tried it out, the glasses just made everything seem darker...no brightness in the picture

I have a 55 in Samsung 3d tv and watching ESPN 3d is truly awesome. Basketball is def the best sport to watch in 3d. Most people who say it is nothing either one are jealous or two have never truly seen a good 3d movie/program.

Just my 2 cents.....it is really almost like being at the game.

I think if you sat way over to the side, the 3D would not be great..

The strangest part is when the crowd raises their hands up in your line of vision. Bizarro-world.

We can sit at a 45 degree angle and the 3d is fine. The crowd hands were a little bizarre.

AFter I saw this thread I went to see what the prices were for 3d tv's and woh, they went up a lot. I purchased mine at Christmas time for $2,000, but this included a 3d blu-ray, two glasses, a the 3 Shrek movies in 3d. All in all the tv on the receipt was $1,500. The same tv at Best Buy right now is $2,700. I was really surprised. No wonder 3d sets are not selling very much still.

3D is awesome. So many people rip on it but haven't given it a chance. I don't understand how anyone can prefer 2D to 3D. You suckers are missing out.

I think that when cable providers start offering more 3D channels, people will start switching over. We have DirecTV and they have 3 or 4 dedicated 3D channels right now.

How is 3D for people who already wear glasses? I can't imagine that to be a very comfortable experience.

Actually, they fit fine over my lenses. I guess if you have some 1980's big frames, it might be difficult though.

I guess I haven't seen truly good 3d on tv. The demos at the store were not very impressive. So, I passed on 3d.

I think 3D is neat and probably the wave of the future, but I'll wait a couple years.


Tech stuff is too expensive when it first comes out and gets refined so massively that its not worth it.

my 108 inch (whoop) high def, plasma/magma, flat screen 4D TV with spinners on the sides makes yalls TV's look like a childs toy

I guess the ADD in me just doesn't want to shut out what's going on around me when I'm watching tv.

TV prices have changed recently because the manufacturers just released their new models a couple of months ago. So the prices start out high and will drop over the next year.
