If the Bulls blow this series after sweeping Miami in the regular season are we going to dismiss them as just a built for the regular season team like we did to Lebron's Cavs? Too much reliance on the MVP to do everything?

while the mvp is a regular season award, Rose never should have won it. The bulls got drastically better because of their DEFENSE. and Rose is one of their WORST defenders. Rose was crowned MVP early by the media and everyone ran with it.

Rose wasn't even in the top 5 in PER. Rose had nearly identical stats to Westbrook during the regular season. what gives?

But, but, look at Chicago's record! Rose MUST be the MVP, right? Wrong.

I agree w/ the OP that you could argue that someone else was more deserving, but not for his stated reasons.

I look at the MVP award and ask "how would that team do w/out player X, or how important is player X to his team's success?" Looking at it that way, Kobe, Durant, Dirk, Rose, Paul would be my top 5, in no order.

It's pretty easy to make a decent arguement that Derrick Rose did not deserve the MVP, but not for the reasons stated in the OP.

Statistically speaking, he's one of the most puzzling MVP choices of all-time. He is the first MVP in history to not rank in the top 5 in the league in scoring, assists or rebounding. Lebron, Howard, Dirk and even Wade were all more deserving IMO. Stoudemire was more impressive but his team sucked.
