Do you all know what Dirk was complaining about after the tieing FT?

Remember, between the first and second FT, the ball boys went out to mop the court for about 30 seconds. It just dragged on and on, with the OKC bench pointing them to mysterious new spots on the floor.

Dirk was apparently saying that he saw someone in the bench area THROW the water on the court. If this was somebody asscoiated with the team, this is no different that what the Jets assistant coach did (obstructing a special teams player on the sideline)- should be a one suspension and a hefty fine.

Thought he said something to the effect of they did the old trick of spitting water on the floor but sometimes his German accent is a little hard to understand

I thought he or another player made a motion of throwing, like from a cup. Anyway, too much scrutiny from the league not to look into it.

Some of you may have noticed that Durant wasn't getting the "rip" motion called last night, even when Kidd fouled him in the 4th quarter. Why? The refs were most certainly shown the video from the game in Dallas when Durant ripped across Terry, who never got closer than 3 inches to him, but Durant got 2 FT's. The announcers were saying that Durant needs to do a better job of acting; however, the caveat is that there needs to be actual contact (unless it's D-Wade 2006). My point is that the league appears to be on top of the video reviews (unless there's 0.7 seconds to go in regulation...).

If they actually threw the water on the court, that's so incredibly bush-league, they deserved what they got. It was pretty obvious that wiping down that floor was taking a curiously long time. Luckily it never really mattered, since Dirk is nails when the game is on the line.

I also loved they weren't calling Durant's rip move. That move has no basketball purpose other than getting free throws. At least the "pump fake to get em off their feet and then jump into them shot" requires you to fake out your opponent and then actually shoot the ball.

agree - that mopping the floor routine was lame.

It was all the more sweeter when the 97% FT shooter made the last FT to tie it, despite the OKC bench's tactics.

I was under the impression that it was fans throwing drinks on the floor.

But do they really think that was going to bother Dirk? Really?

Not exactly sure who threw it or what exactly it was, but the OKC bench kept on pointing out spots to the ball boys for them to wipe up.

if water/sweat was already on the floor, they should have mopped it up prior to his first shot. the way it went down, and the length of time it took, even the OKC fans knew what was going on and were getting louder in anticipation of it icing Dirk.

then Dirk shoved a 50' mop up all their collective asses

Thabo was trying to get Dirk's hands slimy with sweat. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing Dirk was already sweaty.

except for the one time it actually was a foul, it wasn't called

And weren't they mopping the floor where Collison, who is easily the biggest sweater in the NBA, had just fallen down?

I believe you are right Padz, but don't they usually mop before the first free throw?

Not saying it was a big deal or some plan to ice Dirk.

Durant's "rip" move is a legitimate basketball move. I learned it with jab step in basketball camp when I was around 7 years old. Now, they didn't teach you to rise and fire out of that position.

I picked up something to the effect of *garble, garble, garble* followed by "No, no, I'm talking about over in the corner. It's an old trick. 'Oh, I spilt water on the floor.'", at which some off the Mavs bench came a grabbed Dirk and ushered him to the huddle, where he continued on about it with a curious Jason Kidd.

A players arm or something looked to have made a sweeping action in the background at some point during the free throws. I was watching the replay of the game late last night and tried to figure it out, but I couldn't see it well and I didn't see a cup or anything like that. I hope I'm wrong, though and the NBA hands out a fine for "throwing liquid."

Whatshisname had gone flailing across that part of the court after fouling Dirk. They did need to wipe that part of the floor, but should have done that before the first free throw. The floor wiping took an incredibly long time and either OKC has the most inept floor wiper kids in the NBA or they have the cheekiest little *******s in the NBA. You could see the OKC bench pointing all over the floor.

Bush league either way. I do not think Dirk was complaining so much as simply laughing at and pointing out the general bush leagueness of that franchise.

Have any of you guys ever played any sports? In baseball groundskeepers do all kinds of crap to benefit their team. Some football teams muddy up there field. It's called gamesmanship.

I would compare it more to the manager coming out to clear the snow on a game ending field goal attempt in the NFL. Doing stuff before the game that effects both teams the same is one thing. Doing something to try and effect 1 particular play is a little different imo.

Yeah good call, maybe a piece of home court advantage I guess?

I'm just curious what the "general bush leaguiness" of the OKC franchise is?

Didn't you hate playing against those guys in hoops?

Yeah, Nick Collison grabbing him isn't a foul. Surprised it was even called as Collison was fouling him throughout the game.

Worst was the "quick to shirts and skins" gym rat sweaty beast that always seems to line up against me a try to body me on defense, a la "Along Came Polly."

Re: the rip move, yes, he was actually fouled on the last try. I'm sure you can think of a couple plays where a foul occurred against Dirk and it wasn't called? I can think of about 10 in the last couple of games. Not that big of a deal, Durant probably should have stopped trying it after he didn't get the call the first two times.

Like I said in my first post, if the players were throwing water out there, that's what is bush league. Collison did fall there right before the free throws, I forgot that was the spot. But you don't think it took a curiously long time to wipe the floor down? And in the middle of two free throws? The timing and length of the play-stoppage is what seemed a little peculiar to me. Again, didn't really matter because Dirk is clutch.

They play in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. If that's not the bushes and/or the sticks, I don't know what is. Their inept floor wiper kids are reminiscent of your local high school football scrimmages picking up the 9th grade team idiot to help run the chains. Their PG has the mental capacity of that 9th grade idiot. My grandmother has a better jumpshot than their SG. I like Durant, I really, really do, but the guy can take some of the worst shots you'll see in the NBA. The lineup just generally plays like a group uber-talented neighborhood street ballers. Their fandom has absolutely zero basketball knowledge. I agree with Van Gundy...they should hand out techs for having that many folks in the arena that couldn't tell you the difference between a zone and man-to-man defense.

Watched it again. Dirk definitely accuses Sefalosha of throwing water on the court. However I couldn't see anything like from the camera angles they showed us. Either way, it's a moot point now.

Someone's arm went flying across the background although I don't remember at what point it was at, other than it was before they starting mopping.

I still don't recall seeing a cup dropped or thrown, but just the Thunder bench urging on the kids to keep mopping for an insane amount of time.
