The cover story of the Chonicle's sports section this morning was about Choke City.

http://www.chron.com/sports/photogallery/Collapses_and_comebacks.html#26445238

I'm assuming they were referencing last night's Thunder game (especially since they had a picture of Hakeem & Scotty Brooks) although they never actually made that connection.

It got me wondering, does every choke have an equal but opposite clutch from the opposite perspective?

Were the 93 Bills just as equally clutch for winning that game as the Oiler's choke-factor? Do the Mavericks/Thunder share equal but opposite clutch/choke scores? Do the Suns get as much credit for erasing that lead in 94 as the Rockets get for coughing it up?

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

Maybe they were talking about how the Astros scored three runs in the bottom of the 9th to win 4-3 last night.

They have never made me more proud to be a fair-weather Astros fan.

I don't think it's ever 50/50. It's usually one more than the other. Last night was about 65/35 for the Mavs, in my opinion.

Some of that defense played by Dallas down the stretch was incredible. It wasn't like OKC was getting open looks and airballing them.

Don't think it is always a 1:1 relationship. I don't think it was CLUTCH of the Mets' hitter who hit the weak ground ball to Buckner.

Of course last night, and game 4 of the Portland/Mavs series, I think it was equal parts clutch for the winner and a collapse on the loser.

You can have games where you choke it away. In fact, the opposing team maybe crappy too, but you make enough stupid mistakes that you give it away.

I'd say last nights game was 55:45 Thunder in terms of who was responsible for the loss. The Thunder built a good lead but just never put it away, let Dallas stay close enough to make push right at the end.

Have to give the Mavs some credit, with Dirk's 4th quarter*, Kidd's steal, and the rest of the team making the needed shots.

*When you score 12 points to help erase a 15 point deficit, you do deserve some clutch cred.
