Take the first great look you get then foul right away. If thats inside, or a three (from whoever is hot) you take it.

Because if you hit a 2 and then foul, it still makes it a 2 possession game. Sometimes you cant hope the opposing team misses FTs, you just gotta take what you can get. A wide open three is better option than driving on the oak trees who were already set under the basket. That being said on the defensive side I want 4 players on the arc and a C in the paint in that situation.

You also have to consider that the Mavs very rarely miss free throws (ie Dirk, JET, and Kidd). Reality dictates that you are probably going to have to hit 2 threes just to get to OT.

Not only taking 3s, but Durant took another 35 foot 3 pointer. He's got all the talent in the world. If he ever figures out his head and when/where to shoot, the sky is the limit for him.

You are going to beat the Mavericks by hoping they miss FTs. Taking a 3 with a good look is probably you're best bet at that point.

Because Dirk is 60 of 62 from the foul line. Jet was 17 of 18 (I think). Extending the game and hoping they miss free throws is a lower % play in this case.

3s were probably the right call. If you make a three, then Dallas makes both free throws (likely), you STILL have to hit another 3 to tie.
