There are no concrete positives at this time only potential positives.
1. Having been a great player he should have little to no problem winning the respect of the vets.
2. Having been a top flight big guy who really knew how to play in the paint, he may be able to reach and teach Thabeet, Hill and Patterson a few things at that spot. McHale was one tough son of buck there too and he may get some of that to rub off on the young bigs and I am sure they are going to get another one.
3. The young players loved him, the vets related well with him too in his short stint as coach.
4. He is plenty smart, in fact if anything he feels like another Minnesota guy that did all right with the Rockets as an HC, Rudy Tomjonavich.
5. He is not going to wrestle with the front office about trades and personnel.
6. I think he will put more emphasis on defense and getting tougher.
The real big negative is the unknown. He actually didn't do poorly as an HC considering the situation he came into. The other real question is his commitment to the grind.
