you effing suck, it would be really nice to see you step up and not choke in crunch time. deshawn would be a better option in the 4th so kidd isnt guarding effing wade. mavs are effing done if dirk is the only guy playing ball.

Shut up JJ Barea! You shot terrible tonight. You had wide open 3's that you routinely missed! One for five, c'mon!

This is where not having a 2nd option hurts.

I don't know where the best bench in the NBA has gone. Certainly doesn't help that Haywood, Butler and Beaubois are all hurt. Peja has also disappeared.

Peja has turned into a complete waste of space out there. The only thing he's good for, knocking down the open 3, dried up sometime during the OKC series and hasn't been seen since.

Terry and Peja can't defend their position and Haywood is hurt -- that's the problem. I agree that Terry shouldn't be getting minutes late in the fourth, especially when the Mavs are on a defense-only possession. I can't understand why Carlisle puts him out there when he knows he's going to call timeout before they go on offense anyways.

dirk callin terry out:

quote:
"They keep sticking him [James] on Jet in the fourth quarters and he's been doing a good job," Nowitzki said. "Jet hasn't really been a crunch-time, clutch player for us the way we need him to."

terry's take on it:

quote:
"They know to take me out of the fourth quarter, which they didn't do in Game 2," Terry said of the Heat's choice to turn to James defensively, "then they got a good chance."

Added Terry: "Let's see if [James] can defend me like that for seven games."

In the final 4:14 of Game 3, Terry missed a 3-point attempt, botched a driving layup and couldn't hit a go-ahead jumper from the baseline with 58.9 seconds to play.

"I had two opportunities," Terry said. "One in the corner for 3, LeBron closed out. The other one in the right corner, LeBron closed out again, didn't get enough air under it.

"Hey, it happens. If I get those same shots in Game 4, I bet I make them."

But Terry still seems hesitant to give too much credit to the Heat, even going so far as to say the Portland Trail Blazers were better on defense in the first-round series than Miami has been in the Finals.

"Portland, by far, has the best D," said Terry, who added that the Heat has a "great scheme" that is "working for them thus far this series."

Terry is 3-of-12 (25.0 percent) in the fourth quarters against Miami, which is not much worse than his overall fourth quarters in which he's shooting 29.3 percent (17-for-58) for an average of 3.2 points per fourth quarter.

"It's a call to arms. One man's not going to win it," Terry said. "Obviously, the big-wig [Nowitzki] is going to need to get some help, and I'm going to tell you this -- that we will be there in Game 4."

OK, Jet. You've thrown the gauntlet down now with your talk. Better back that talk up tomorrow night...

Love how ESPN leaps at the opportunity to turn this into a Dirk-Terry scuffle. Dirk is merely calling out Terry to get his attention and hopefully get him to dig a little bit deeper into his abilities for the rest of the playoffs.

No ****, LeBron shut down Derrick Rose pretty filthy in the Chicago series...y'know, just the MVP, no big deal. But he's gonna really struggle with Terry...give me a break

FWIW Terry and Rose are very very different players. Bron could stay in front of Rose because of his quickness and athleticism.
Defending Terry (over the course of the entire series) will be a different animal. LeBron has obviously done a good job on him thus far, but we'll see what happens in game 4. I expect JET to have a good game 4.

Jesus Christ, you are really saying that Terry is more difficult to defend than Derrick Rose? Like LeBron's athleticism and length aren't going to bother a 6'3 jumpshooter who already has a reputation for disappearing in the 4th quarter?

I tried to not post on this board b/c of Dallas delusion, and I believe I will be leaving again.

Terry is an effing clown who talks way to make sh*t. First of all Miami's defense is much better than Portland's is or ever will be (at least in these playoffs). And Miami's defense might even be an all-time defense in a few years when we look back at things. Next, if Terry doesnt get his sh*t together then this isnt going to even be a 7 game series and the Mavs will see the effing Heat celebrate yet again in Dallas.

In my opinion Dirk has every right to call JET out. Was anyone suprised at his defensive gaffe in Game 2 when he let Mario Chalmers free? The guy let Steve Nash drill a 3 in his face in 2005 which cost Dallas the game. We all know Dirk is gonna get his numbers by and large with the exception being 2006 Miami and 2007 GSW. Pretty much all the other playoff series losses were a product of Terry just not showing up and scoring and doing it efficiently.
