Look, it's pretty simple. Most of us long suffering Mavs fans have been through some rough times. No one is trying to diminish your many championships or claim that Texas is a Mavericks first state.

Also, yes, I know Cuban is a handful. At least he has kept himself quiet this year. That's a start.

Just let us enjoy this series. Hopefully my boys can win one of two games in Miami. If so, then please just give us a few weeks to enjoy it before you pile on with why the Mavs suck compared to all the great Duncan and Olajuwon teams.

If we don't close it out, just know that it will be painful for us. Maybe not as painful as '06 when it seemed like a stone cold lock after 2 games, but it will hurt. There's no need to pile on.

Yeah, what he said. Besides, I always pull for the Rockets and Spurs against the rest of the world anyway. Always. I loved watching Olajuwon play, I loved watching Gervin, I respect the hell out of the whole Spurs organization. I don't get the intrastate rivalry thing at all. My hate is reserved for the Lakers, the Knicks, and the Heat. (I hated the Heat as soon as they took that stupid noncount nickname. G.H.E.Y.)

Cuban didn't help when he basically called San Antonio a toilet, but he's clearly matured as an owner despite being an uber rich boy genius in a man's body (what a life, huh?). Guarantee he respects the hell out of the Spurs organization though.

Those words and his antics are still in the minds of folks from San Antonio. I was on a flight 2 days ago and 2 old ladies were looking at a sports page that had the Mavs on the front, talking about the Finals. I asked them if they were excited about the game and they went off on how much they can't stand the Mavs. They were super nice ladies, one probably in her 60's, the other in her 80's. Their main reason for not liking Dallas was what he said about their hometown. Cuban definitely didn't help build any love between Dallas and SA, but he definitely created a nice rivalry that will sell more fan interest and tickets.

I'm a Thunder fan, being from Oklahoma. But I'm also a Mavs fan and will be ECSTATIC if they can get that first ring. I love the Mavs, and want them to win it all so bad!

Enough with the Terry butthurt, talk about over-reacting about one player.

I just happened to be in New York the same time as the SA-NJ finals in '03. Normally, I only support the Dallas teams, but after hear so much anti-Texas crap at a concert I just stood up and yelled "**** the Nets, go Spurs!!!" I'm a huge Rockets fan. I don't like the Mavs or Mark Cuban. But like most sane people, I respect the hell out of Dirk and I think he is great enough that he should get a title.

If the Mavs win 1 of the next 2, I'll wait about a 24 hours before I start reminding my Mavs fan friends that they're HALFWAY to the Rockets number of championships....

Grew up watching the Rockets play in The Summit, and I will always be a huge fan of the team/organization.

With that said, I have not really been pulling for either team in this series but if I had to choose there is little doubt that I would pull for the Mavs. Its simple, you guys have heart and the will to win. Miami talks about those things but doesn't show up.

Good luck Mavs fans! Not every Rocket or Spurs fan is rooting against you. Keep the titles in Texas.

I can't actively root for a Dallas team to win, but watching LeBron fail is really fun.

OK, I can understand hating the city of Dallas. I'm from Fort Worth, so believe me, I understand. So maybe you Spurs and Rockets fans can just think of us folks in the Fort and be glad for us if the Mavs pull this thing out. We're the forgotten city over here. Remember us.

If there is one player who doesn't deserve a ring, it's Eric Dampier.

I think most Mavs haters can pull for the Mavs knowing this is probably a one and done deal if they win it. If the Mavs were young and lots of potential for many years to come I think the Spurs and Rockets would not want the Mavs to surpass anything they have done. They can both rest knowing that the Mavs are all in on this ride with no young talent waiting in the wings. They are going to have to go through some major growing pains after all of this is said and done.

I am a Rockets fan, but I drove to Dallas for Game 5. Sat in section 103 and yelled for the Mavs. I went to high school in Dallas, and pull for them when the Rockets are out. Dirk is the real deal and deserves his ring. Hope he gets it this time!

Spurs fan, and to be honest I'm torn. I want Dirk to get a ring b/c he's been one of my favorite players since I can remember, but I'm really afraid if the Heat don't win this one something might finally click in LeBron's head and turn him into a pissed off monster ala Jordan and Kobe. I'd much rather the Heat feel like they got spoonfed this championship, b/c I'm afraid of what LeBron will become if he ever gets a killer instinct.

Everyone likes to give him a hard time for terrible clutch performances, but wasn't there a game (I think it was the Magic, maybe Pistons the year before) where they basically played LeBron high with four players low and he basically won the game 1 on 5. If he ever figures it out, good luck NBA.

If you don't have a killer instinct by now, you aren't going to magically develop it.

I started out wanting the Heat to win. I really did. But I don't think I can stomach a Heat victory anymore. Wade & James are just such d00che bags. Sure, Dirk is a flopper, and the 06 series really ticked me off, but for the most part the Mavs keep their heads down and play hard basketball. This year, they've resembled the Spurs: great D, clutch play in crunch time, and little to no show boating. They've been the consummate professionals. (Plus, they prevented the Laker 3peat and I hate those phawking hate those basterds, so they earned some good will for that).

So yea, go Mavs. Kick LeBron's ass.

PS - this would be one championship, so temper the gloating. Houston has you doubled up and the Spurs double that.

That may be true, but I wouldn't exactly count out the Mavs yet for next year. Of course, they don't have 4 in them though. But a Rockets 2-pack isn't inconceivable. But as a beaten-down Mavs fan, I'll wait on #1 to think about that.

Besides the fact I don't get adjusting my viewing based off past championship stockpile. For example, the Cowboys 5 championships doesn't impact which teams I root for each week besides the Boys.

I'd agree with that... But Kidd is the only key component of the Mavs on the back end. Replacing Kidd is manageable when it needs to happen.

Kidd has said he wants to stick around for at least a few more years to tutor some young guards. However, if there is a lockout that might change....
