Please oh please be true.

Another day, another story giving us a reason to rip the Miami Heat.

Rumors surfaced yesterday that several Miami Heat players attended the Mavericks post-championship party just hours after losing Game 6.

Although in fairness, I guess Dampier was a major contributor to the Mavs' championship run.

Someone said this was the dame club where Lebrons mom was arrested a few months ago.

So Dampier basically carries a broken down sobbing Chris Bosh to the locker room and a few hours later shows up to the mavs party?

On one hand it's pretty funny. On the other hand, I don't know if it's too surprising. Other than Wade/Bron the Heat don't seam like a very close team. I got the feeling that Wade and Lebron dominate every aspect of that team and the roll players seem to be getting tired of it. When they celebrate it's between Wade and Lebron. You don't see many others getting as involved. Maybe it's just because I don't follow them much, but I never really heard the roll players of the Heat praising and going on about the big 3, team chemistry and their part in the plan like I remember hearing about the Dallas players.

The question is whether any Mavs would have attended a Heat celebration party - I would say clearly no; only former Mav Josh Howard is in that category.

Damp spent the previous 6 years with the Mavs and did not make an appearance in any of the Heat's postseason games this year. I've got to think he has more buddies on the Mavs than on the Heat. And given his lack of participation in the playoffs, how broken up about the loss can he be?

This. I think he was probably invited, and won't be back with the Heat next year in all likelihood anyway. Let him have fun.

If it was just Damp I have no problem with it. I do think the Mavs were a little hosed by the refs in the 2006 Finals (Damp was on that team and he definately played in those games). I was never a Dampier fan, but he was part of the team for a long time and I am happy he was able to celebrate with his former teammates.

Isnt damp one of the players that went to Josh Howards birthday party when Avery said no parties during the 06 finals?

Unless there is a picture of a gigantic 6'11 black man at this club...I find this rumor a little hard to believe.

I don't believe the Mavericks rented out the entire club. They just dominated a section of it. Not surprising that other NBA players were hanging out at a cool place.

And no problem with Dampier attending the party. I doubt he was drinking champagne from the OBrien Trophy. Congratulate his friends, toast their good season. Big deal.

Didn't Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson go into Mavs locker room after sweep? Congratulate them and wish them good luck against next opponent.

I don't find it hard to believe. The AAU and summer league scene is ridiculously intertwined these days and has been for a long time. Most NBA players are pretty tight w/ other NBA players and have been for a long time because they've played and run in the same circles for the better of 15 years or more.
