Frankly I wouldnt be surprised to see a lot of Euro leagues trying to poach talent off NBA rosters similar to what happened to the NHL during its work stoppage.
quote:The report says that if Fernandez agreed to the Real Madrid deal, he would return to the Mavs whenever the 2011-12 NBA season begins, finish the season and then cut ties with the NBA to join the Spanish club.
The way this sounds it just seems like a decent way to keep the guy in shape so when the protracted labor struggle ends with a shortened season, he'll come in already in form, not fat and out of shape.
Yeah, but it's a 6 year deal, I think that would only apply for next season, since he would still be under his NBA contract. After next season, he won't have an NBA contract and will go overseas. So it looks like, at best, a rental for a possible portion of a season got traded for Jordan Hamilton.
