But I just really enjoy talking about basketball related things.

I was thinking earlier, I believe it was last year that ESiPN was talking up "What if LeBron went to the NFL" and what position would he play, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's an interesting idea, but don't you think an athlete of LeBron's caliber is totally wasted in any sport other than basketball? The thing I love the most about basketball is that outside of a QB in the NFL, they easily have the most ability to dominate a game single handedly, as there are only 10 players on the court at any given time, so the talent disparity is even greater.

Cue up all the LeBron chokes in the 4th quarter, blah blah blah, but the guy is a freak of nature. The only place that someone w/ his skillset and athleticism, and all of the other NBA greats belong, is on a basketball court.

If you didn't post new topics, I think this board would disappear before the season began.

Well, since there probably won't be a season, I have to talk basketball somewhere. I still don't understand this BS about them canceling 2 weeks of the season, like 2 weeks matters.

I'm trying to avoid taking sides in this whole thing, as I can see where they are both coming from. I agree the CBA is broken, but disagree with the owner's stance on how they want the NBA to function for the foreseeable future.

But this whole "2 weeks" thing is just stupid. Nobody gives a ***** If 2 weeks are canceled, we're not missing anything. It's just so arbitrary and makes zero sense to me. To me, it just seems like the only thing that will come from it is alienating the fans; the owners don't care about 2 weeks lost, the players don't care about 2 weeks lost. All it is going to do is make fans think wtf are you guys doing?

I'm taking the side of the little guy. Everyone else that is involved that is losing their income that isn't a ****ing multi-millionaire.

My HS girlfriend's mom had a job running the jumbotron in San Antonio. Graphics, scores, etc. She was laid off after working there for years because with no Spurs, there is no need for someone to run the jumbotron.

****ing selfish *****s. The only people that are really going to get hurt in this are the hard working people with low paying jobs like the ticket takers, ticket sales, ushers, parking attendants, scoreboard operators, etc.

It doesn't matter if those over paid thugs get an extra million or two, they are going to blow it all on their massive entourage, ridiculous houses, cars, drugs, "sorry I ****ed a blonde teenager in colorado" diamonds and child support for all their baby mommas before they turn 40 anyway.

I'm with you GS, the big losers are the people who make a career in the industry itself.

The fact that certain players (I like to point to Travis Outlaw with the Nets) are way overpaid is completely on the owners/GM.

The problem is, conservatively, 75% of the management in the NBA are total morons. I really just don't get it. It's like they're bidding against themselves to overpay players. If they paid players what they were truly worth and were willing to pass on mediocre players, they wouldn't have any problems.

Personally, I don't think the CBA itself is broken, I just think there are too many stupid people running front offices. On that note, a brilliant GM like Cho gets fired from Portland due to unfortunate injuries. The owners MAY be losing money (which I don't buy into), but their personnel decisions are why. The Pistons won a ship w/ a bunch of scrubs, the Spurs pulled it off (albeit with a HOFer), the Thunder are making it work, hell even the Grizzlies have finally put together a pretty decent team.

The owners are willing to WAY overpay for an NBA team so they can win a dick measuring contest with other billionaires, and then they want to make money off of the franchise. It's just silly.

Yes the owners are making some bad decisions.

Take for example, George Shinn (former Hornets owner) who took out a 11.5 Million dollar loan at 7.75% interest from a company. Hey, guess who owns the company he took out the loan from? Why it is George Shinn.

So the bad basketball owner made the good business owner a lot of money.

Gotta put him at WR. He's got the speed and vertical of Calvin Johnson, only he's 3 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier.

I can't argue with that, Ulrich. Maybe TE so he can block some, he's easily big enough to do it.

But the main point of my argument is that he wouldn't be directly involved in every play. Granted, defenses would have to scheme for him and it might help the offense out by having the defense commit extra coverage to him, but I just feel like his talents would be wasted in any other sport.

As I said in another thread, I would put him in a red zone package and throw jump balls to him. Not a big role, but a tough one to defend because he already knows how to box a defender away and catch the ball at the top of his leap.
