Who do y'all think the rockets should target in free agency? Any big gets out there?

While this is pulled from the San Antonio paper, here's a list of the remaining free agents.

I know that DeAndre said in a recent interview that he wouldn't mind returning to his hometown. He's restricted though and I'm sure LA likes their young core and would match. He'd be a nice complement to Scola though.

Marc Gasol or Deandre.

Word to the wise: never try to predict what the Clippers will/will not do.

Marc Gasol. We desperately need some size in the paint

Nene, Dalembert, Gasol, DeAndre. Need to get one of them.

I wouldn't put much stock into signing restricted free agents who are pivotal to their teams like DeAndre and Marc Gasol, personally. You can try, I just don't see it working out.

In other words, I don't see us getting Gasol or DeAndre, but I could see Nene, Chandler, Pryzbilla, or Dalembert. I feel like Nene will try to land somewhere more glamourous than Houston or will just resign with Denver. I wouldn't count on Chandler either, especially after winning a championship with Dallas. I could see us ending up with someone like Pryzbilla, because he seems like one of those moneyball players like Shane Battier and Chuck Hayes.

Will be interesting to see if we resign Hayes. I think he was our 2nd best player last year, call me crazy.

Will also be interesting to see where Greg Oden lands. I could also see Morey trying to take one of those high risk high reward fliers and trying to sign him. Can you imagine having Oden and Thabeet as your centers on this team? The biggest draft busts of the century, leading the way. Hahaha.

Memphis is poised to match any offer for Gasol.

While he's a quality player, he's just going to end up being an overpaid glue guy.

Also, the Clippers are keen on Dwight Howard. The Rocket's best chance at landing DeAndre will be next summer, if Dwight chooses to exercise his early termination option which I imagine he will.

I would love to see them get Nene, but I would be okay with just keeping Chuck and seeing how the season goes.

I'm pretty torn on what to expect from the Rockets this year. If you take an honest look at the roster, there is no way we are contending for a title. But we're not gonna be in the cellar either; probably gonna end up in the 7-10 spot in the West, for the 3rd year in a row. At this point, I'm leaning towards getting some serious PT for the young guys (especially Patterson and Morris) and stocking up on ping pong balls.

Morey's prowess at accumulated valuable trading pieces has definitely proven to put this team in neutral. We're not good enough to make any noise in the playoffs, but we're not bad enough to get a reasonably good draft pick. All we can do is linger around until a trade partner comes around, like when the Lakers traded 3 potato chips for Pau Gasol after they mired in mediocrity for a couple seasons themselves.

Yeah, unless we can swing a similar trade (say, for Dwight Howard, and get him to sign an extension), I don't see us contending.

If we do get in, we'll be 7 or 8. There'll be plenty of good basketball to watch otherwise. OKC will be a good team.

The media would have you think there is no possible way Howard would come to Houston, and they are probably right unless you could get another superstar to play here with him. I dont know if we have the $ or trade assets to swing another big name over here.

With that said, it would be nice to get a guy like Nene/Gasol/Dalembert etc. at least for this shortened season. I know Morey has a lot of trade assets but the possibility of snagging CP3 & Howard or either one is looking like a longshot.

I believe with some good interior defense this team can make the playoffs in the West at minimum.

Edit: I meant to add Sportsradio 610 reported that a possible trade option was a combo of Martin, Lowry, Scola, and Patterson for CP3. I don't know if its just me but that sounds like a lot to give up. I guess I am torn on the issue though, because its been a while since we have seen a real SUPERSTAR here in Houston. It is going to get interesting over the next few weeks.

Sam Amick: League sources say the Houston has been trying to put together a three-team deal with the Lakers and New Orleans in which Paul goes to LA
