Did anyone else see the highlights and feel like Deandre isn't tight with the team and/or CP/Griffin? Griffin seemed to shake him off with the hug (which i admit was kind of weird) and later on after CP makes a play, he high fives everyone by DJ, when DJ is trying to get in on the celebration.

I haven't watched a full Clippers game, but I wonder if DJ's big contract is resented among some of the other players??

Why would they resent DJ. He clogs the middle on D, sweeps the boards to get the others out on the break and is probably one of the most good natured dudes in the NBA off the court. He is my second fav active player right now (after Dirk).

DJ is also a threat on the lob which means his man can't cheat up when Griffen sets up on the high post. Paul hit him with a lob at the top of his jump last night several times for absolutely monster flushes.

agsam01 Deandre and Griffin are actually quite close. they've done all kinds of promo videos together (backyard dunk contest, etc).

chances are Griffin was pumped with adrenaline after the dunk and did not want to be confined like that. probably just an instinctual thing.

oh and this

Griffin pushed for Deandre's extension. They're practically butt buddies.

Griffin was fine with the hug for the first 5 seconds, but after that, it was getting kinda creepy.

That Vince Carter dunk is filthy. I just can't give it the credit it is due because I feel like Vince should've been 2x the player he was.

I appreciate the dunk but man, he could've been so much better than he was. Another guy with limitless potential who just didn't want to cash in on all of it.

Anybody with his athletic ability should've been able to dominate the game in more ways than just scoring. He's averaged 5 boards a game and 4 assists per game for his career, which are very respectable for a SG, but they just never translated to wins the way they should've.

Carter has put up great numbers, but I think it's been obvious over his career that his demeanor and approach to the game haven't exactly lent themselves to being an "Alpha Dog" player.

Very few players in that upper echelon of greatness got there without that killer instinct. Shaq is one, I think he only tapped about 90% of his potential but he was content with being pretty dominant. Shaq easily had another level he could've reached if he would've worked a tiny bit harder.

All I'm saying is Vince could've probably had a much better career (I'm not arguing his numbers would've been much better, but his winning pedigree) had he devoted himself a little bit more.

I don't know - the only team he's ever been on that was worth a damn, was the Nets when they also had Kidd, and then now with Dallas. I knid of think of him as in the same boat as Dominique Wilkins. Both great athletic shooting guards, but the lacked the pieces around them to help be anything more than playmakers. I guess you could argue he should have done more winning when he was with the Nets but sometimes that's all about luck. Just ask Jason Kidd.

I remember them talking about his workouts at Toronto & Carolina. He got the asstastic Raptors to the playoffs twice and T-Mac wasn't the alpha dog on that team.

Carter didn't join the nets until the '05 season.

I said Shaq could've been better than he was. He is no doubt one of the greatest centers of all time. I'm just saying he could've been better, and I think everyone in the sports world would agree.
