In the same game! Now here is ESPN to talk about Linsanity cause he can score 20 points but he's asian.

There's also the fact that he's been cut by 2 teams this year, and he was warming the bench 2 weeks ago. And he's had more points and assists in his first 8 starts than any other player except this one dude back in the 70s. I think his name was Magic Johnson.

But other than that yeah, it's just cause he's Asian.

Did the Westbrook Durant combo get someone at ESPN fired yet? Lin has

Lin has the power to fire people? And I didn't say it's just because he's asian, but I'm tired of this "Linsanity" crap. 51/40 and the lead at ESPN was "Lin, Knicks win."

So the team gets second billing to one dude? I must admit I'll be interested to see what happens when Carmelo comes back, I'm hoping an ego explosion.

And it's not like he's the only underdog story. My Washington guy Isaiah Thomas (remember him?) was the last pick in the draft and just dropped 23,11, and 8 against the #1 pick Kyrie Irving in just his second start.

I'm actually more impressed by Serge Ibaka getting a triple double with 11 blocked shots as the third "double".

Thank you. Easily the most impressive line of the night. He's had THREE double-digit block games this season.

So the one dude thing bothers you above, but you use it to prop up your Isiah Thomas point? Kyrie Irving isn't some defensive stalwart. Plus, he plays for Sacramento, one of the smallest markets in the league. He dropped that line on Cavs, bro. The Cavs. Lin has done it for two weeks in New York. And he's doing it with a level of excitement that BOTH Stoudemire and Melo haven't been able to replicate. Cray.

I will agree that there are a number of good underdog stories in the NBA. None as big as Lin, though. I think the most overlooked player in the league right now is Minnesota's Nikola Pekovic. Look him up.

Not sure if anyone has the power to research this, but I have to believe this is the first time in NBA history that one guy has scored 50, a teammate has scored 40 and a second teammate records a triple-double in the same game.

ESPN confirmed what muck said. Pretty crazy.

Joking aside earlier with my Lin comment, damn good game. The Thunder should be the team of the decade if they keep the core intact.

It's also probably the first time where scoring 40 points was only the third best performance of the night on a player's own team.

They're probably feeling guilty because they called him a ***** on the front page a couple days ago

poor Russell

i guarantee you he's doesn't give a crap, he's just gld they won. 40 points wasn't even his most impressive stat line of the night. i don't remember the last time he went 9/2 on the asst/TO ratio.

Not sure what you guys are talking about, but I watched the late Sportscenter last night with the LA guys and the opening highlight was the OKC game. Lin and the Knicks were in the #2 slot.

People who are crying about the Lin coverage need to turn off the TV. I am sure you are the same people that cried about the Tebowmania this past fall. This is what most people love - underdog story, kid finally gets a chance to play, and plays great while leading his team to wins (like Tebow). There are more non-NBA fans watching the games today then there were 3 weeks ago and Jeremy Lin is the #1 reason why. That is good for all basketball fans (unless you were trying to buy Knicks tickets for cheap).

+1 the Tebow comparison isn't fair.

I thought all the improbable wins were great TV, but even the biggest Tebow supporter will admit he has a long way to go before you can honestly call him a good NFL QB.

Lin has proven that he is a talented NBA starter who can make plays, make his teammates better, and carry his team to wins, and can play well against good teams.

FIFY

I hate Tebow, and we all know he stinks, but he won games. He made plays when he had to just like Lin. Lin is hasnt even led them to the playoffs yet. He gets Carmelo back today. That would be like Tebow getting Terrell Davis.

Lin is great, has been electric, and has brought one of the flagship organizations of the NBA back from the dead so far this season. Tebow brought a team that was down on its luck from its glory years back from the dead.... Was electric, and was below average except when it counted. Which both of them have a flair for getting it done in crunch time.

Tebow may have a lot of 3 and outs, but that's the lack of talent around him too. Lin has a very high number of turnovers for a point guard. (Kobe got mad and went out and broke his season high just to get attention). They both have flaws...... They are equal but getting better. Just get excited and cheer (or like me with Tebow, boo) them on while they get better and bring more fans to sports we love.

Take it to the Lin thread

Russ & KD followed up 51/40 with 31/31

Not equal. They would be equal if over the past two weeks, instead of putting up the numbers he put up, Lin hit a game-winning shot every single game despite going 3 for 12 from the field or something like that.

Their runs have been equally as exciting, but for different reasons.

Let me help you OKC fans out here a little bit. Lin/Knicks is almost always going to trump coverage of the Thunder for one reason and one reason only. Population. 13 million people in New York City alone compared to what, maybe 2 million in the entire state of Oklahoma? It sucks, but it's reality. If you want lead in stories for OKC sports, you'll have to watch local programing, otherwise we are force fed NY/Boston/LA teams because of how many people live in their respective markets.

I don't think people get my gripe. I'm a sports fan, a real sports fan. But what the media has done with the hype machine should make any real sports fan upset.

Lin is good, but not like the greatest of all time and with asian markets buying TV rights, etc you can't seriously claim it's not about money. Stern is milking this for all it's worth.

As for Tebow comparisons, how is Tebow and underdog story? Heisman winner, first round draft pick? How many of them have been "underdogs?" And Lin actually averaged 16 points and 5 assists in college.

I get it the "Linsanity" is different because he was not drafted and you know, actually looks like a good player unlike Tebow. I'm just tired of having these guys shoved down our throats 24/7.

These stories are in good part just manufactured. How about doing a real story on why the NBA scouting system is making these kind of big screw-ups? Did they come out of nowhere or were the supposed talent experts just asleep on the job?

BTW Isaiah Thomas just dropped 24 points on the Heat, and they are a good defense. IT was the last pick, the guy they call Mr. Irrelevant. He's averaging 20,7, and 5 through three starts, all on the road.

I think the story missed here is the NBA bias and bias in pro sports talent evaluations in general. I liken it to Moneyball where Billy Bean grabs a winning team with guys nobody took seriously, if the movie is to be believed, for some really stupid reasons. Lin is asian, IT is 5' 9" tall. Neither fits the usual mold, but they both have great college resumes that said they could play.
