Game changer. Assuming Jackson has been loafing the past couple seasons due to being trapped on bad teams. Even if he has lost it the Spurs upgraded from a horrible 3 year contract to a horrible 2 year contract.

Wtf is Golden State doing this deal? Unbelieavable.

Simplebay, Jackson is a muuuch better defender. Plus, his contract is one year shorter. The only thing that sucks is that we probably forfeited our 1st round pick this year.

Jackson gives the Spurs the potential upside to compete - they knew what they were getting from Jefferson and it wasn't enough. Jackson also carries the downside potential of sabotaging the locker room or on-court chemistry but I think that's unlikely. It he can play his role then the upside is much bigger than what they had with Jefferson. Well worth the risk

Jefferson was bad. i take it back, it's a slight improvement. since Jackson is only due 10MM for one more year, that's better than Jefferson.

Still, that is way too much money for Jackson. there's a reason he hasnt stayed with one team more than 3 years.

I agree SJax is a POS thug, but if anyone knows how to handle him, it's Pop. His last stint in SA had no major issues and he won a title to boot.

Deshawn Stevenson gave Dallas that thug element last year and it was a big plus. This year there's a void in that area. Delonte isn't getting it done

Was hoping to acquire some help/size inside but I like this move. RJeff was one of the most worthless spurs is recent memory and had a terrible contract. Hopefully the chance to play for a contender puts a spark in Jacksons butt and he plays well. If not, well he can't be worse than RJeff.

Exactly. Jackson is a far superior defender. And he can create his own shot. His three ball has fallen off percentage wise. But he has always been a streaky shooter and never has averaged over 40% in his career.

The spurs are relevant again finally. Jackson is the ultimate example of a player who turns it on only when he's in a winning situation.

And the Spurs-Mavs rivalry could be back. Jackson is on Dirks list of players who had some success at one point guarding him but have since been put back in their place. Hopefully he'll run his mouth in the media like dumbass Matt Barnes

Jackson isn't great on offense, but he's better than Jefferson and the contract is shorter. Plus, he's a much better defender and he plays with some attitude. Great trade

Hm, not totally sold on this trade. RJ was mostly useless, no doubt about it, but I'm not a huge fan of Stephen Jackson. Hopefully it works out well.

I was just looking at them.

11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 28.2 minutes per game.

Looks good on paper, but it was 10 years ago.

I was under the impression i said they would amnesty him this summer

so, in a way, this is worse. they're stuck with jackson who is more expensive next year, rather than amnestying jefferson.

Thank god RJ is gone, Jackson has the potential to go off for 20+ any given night. The days of seeing RJ put up 4 points in a 20-30 stretch is over. This gives the Spurs some attitude and an athletic SF that they have lacked since.....Jackson.
