There is strong Ewing Theory potential here though since he was such a big focus by the fans and media, and it seemed like the players and coaches had to work extra hard to baby him.

It also worked great last year when Roddy was suddenly "injured" for the entire the playoffs.

Given how the season has played out to this point, this is by far the best move right now.

Seriously, the Los Angeles Lakers team of the 2000's housed some of the most emotionally fragile athletes in professional sports history.

The 2012 Lakers still have less of a chance to win the title thanks to giving away Odom.

The Mavs will flip him for cap space and move forward.

I loved Sturm's point last week talking about how after seeing that Kobe has had to put up with with Lam-Lam and Pau crying about his girlfriend, really forces you to consider the Kobe narrative.

He was never the star and never expected to be the star.

If Dirk got injured, it would be Ewing theory.

He was expected to be a huge contributor and turned out to be a flop.

The emergence of Brandon Wright has taken a lot of the sting out. Although if the Mavs miss the playoffs, Odom will get most of the blame.

I looked it up. Lamar made $12,348,596 this season, and played 2202 minutes total.

That means he got paid $5607.90 for every minute of play, which is more than my gf makes in a freaking month of work.

Assuming that play took 10 seconds Lamar was paid $934 to make one of the dumbest basketball plays in history, that i wouldnt do at the rec.

It was inevitable... Cuban had to free up salary cap room for Britney Griner's move to the NBA.

Agreed. Odom is neither a star player nor are the fans writing off the season based on his departure. They may improve without him, but it's not classic Ewing Theory.

Yea, Odom doesn't qualify for Ewing theory. He does qualify for potential addition by subtraction, although I think there are other, more important things that need to fix themselves as well.
