But yet DRose wasn't sulking on the bench like a baby. He was involved in the huddles and cheering for his teammates. He is a true professional and realized that last night the team was better off with him on the bench and CJ in the game. He has missed a lot of time this season and the rust was very evident last night. He will use this as motivation to get better.
Rose against Miami kinda reminds me of Kobe against Boston a few years ago. Opposing defense has the personnel and strategy to get them out of their comfort zones.
The Lakers were able to beat the Celtics a few years ago despite Kobe shooting like 25% from the field because they had other guys step up. That's what the Bulls need against Miami and they got it last night.
I think this says more about what CJ means to the team than anything about Rose. Rose has missed 13 of the last 15 games. He's not 100% and he has a lot of rust to knock off. The more important point is what Deluxe talked about. The bulls need players (other than DRose) to step up against the Heat and that's what happened last night. Watson, Taj, Korver and even Boozer (please amnesty this guy) stepped up last night and played big.
I'm not making a statement about how Watson was better or something. I'm saying that it's staggering how different the team performed with the reigning MVP vs. his backup. And yes, I know about the injuries and the rust and that obviously all plays a factor. Even Noah could barely get on the court with Taj Gibson playing so well.
