I don't think anyone with any sort of basketball knowledge would compare him to Kobe or MJ. I do think he is a hall of fame player though. Probably not first ballot, but he's that good.
1st ballot because there isn't an NBA HOF, it's the Naismith Basketball HOF which honors international and domestic basketball achievements.

In his prime (2003-2007), it could be argued using statistics that Ginobili was the most clutch player in the entire league. He's been the 1st (2008), 2nd (much of his career), and now 3rd best player on the team at various times throughout his career. He's a 3x NBA champion and has done much of this coming off the bench. He was arguably the best player (measured by the way he performed) in the 2004 Olympics.
Ginobili isn't what he used to be, but he is still a pretty damn good 3rd wheel, he's a team-first guy, and he's a proven winner at every level. There's not a single GM in the entire league that wouldn't trade nearly anyone on their roster for him (health issues aside).
quote:Well then judging by that reasoning Pau Gasol is a first ballot HOFer then
a) which reasoning? You must not be talking about me since Pau barely fits ANY of those criteria b) who's to say Pau won't be when it is all said and done? He is a phenomenal basketball player and, in my mind, will deserve some first-ballot consideration

Seeing that Manu only had about 3 years of prime level basketball than he doesn't compare to those guys at all. During those 3 years though he was arguably the best SG in the league. 05-08
The title was a troll to bring you in...to get serious responses I should've said, "Manu Ginobili-how do you rate him?"
But that's just not fun. Either way, looks like you guys don't overrate him and at least recognize he is very fortunate to play with Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan should win every finals MVP their great play is because of Timmy.

The best SG in the league has to be the #1 option??? Who says? That's about the most arbitrary thing I've ever heard.
When you have a top-10 player in the history of basketball on your roster, he's pretty much going to be your first option no matter who's playing the 2.
