Otherwise known as the luckiest dude in the history of the NBA. Every year some dude rides the pine to a championship, but who has done it the most, who played the least over his career?

I wanted to pick somebody who actually played a little bit.

Ladies and gentlemen, Greg Kite:

He only won 2, but it was in the ultra-competitive 80's so those 2 are worth more than that.

Mediocre player that, from the bench, watched his team win a lot of championships.

Horry won 7, right? How many of those teams would have won w/out him?

horry logged pretty significant minutes.

I don't know if I would ever say that Horry was the worst player to win a ring, he was clutch in so many of those championships. Sure he didn't win you the whole thing, but without him some of those rings might not have happened.

When Horry was on the Spurs, he contributed in a lot of ways besides hitting shots, too. He made a ton of really smart plays for a couple years... timely blocks, steals, and drawn charges. He had a lot of rings and was never The Guy, but he was a valuable contributor.

Man, GTFOH. Robert Horry is the G.O.A.T. Role Player.

Not many.

Robert Horry belongs nowhere near this list.

That's like saying Steve Kerr or Dennis Rodman. Actually, no its not. It is much worse than either of those two.

Horry certainly is not the worst player by any means. That said, the "ring volume to talent" ratio overall might be up pretty high, but he was a good player that had some clutch moments.

rings/PER might be sort of interesting, and something like rings/(PER-team PER) might be as well.

I believe these guys only won one championship.

From the Bulls era, I'd say say Scott Williams, who was able to find his way onto the end of the bench for quite a while in the NBA.

I would be interested in worst player with multiple championships who started the majority of those games during that run.

Hmm...

Most teams that won multiple championships didn't have any deadbeats in their starting 5. You say a guy like Bruce Bowen, and then you think about what he did on the defensive end and some of the clutch shots he hit from the corner, and nobody in their right mind would be able to put him on a "worst" list.

Maybe Derek Fisher? Although, again, some of the things that he did were integral to the success of that team.

That's a much more difficult exercise Hotard.

If you're looking for someone who started every year for a dynasty and sucked then I'd go with Luc Longley - you can't talk for long about Jordan's greatness without mentioning his spare starting centers

Longley came to mind for me. Mainly because he did actually play as opposed to riding the bench.

Withou guys like Horry and Kerr those teams might have 1 or 2 less titles...
