Great comment from Pop, loved it.

And DC, I'll give you some props for being one of the few Spurs fans who actually gives the Thunder some credit for being a great team.

Mavs are going to be out of it for awhile.

Classy and true comment by Pop. Others should take notice.

My team took its whipping in the second round. Never doubted for a second that's when we'd get ejected. I'm just glad they got bounced by the soon-to-be champs. Go Thunder.

Okc is scary good. What is amazing to me is the hot shooting, they Are on a freaking roll. It usually doesn't happen for teams this young and will be interesting to see if they can turn this into long term success.

Thunder wouldn't be where they are if they weren't a great team. It's looking like they're the best team in the league this year.

All the Spurs fans I know took notice in game 1... still never thought we could lose 4 in a row like that...

But if OKC plays the Celts in the finals they will have faced all of the last 4 defending champs in the same run... has that ever happened?

In 1967, the 76ers beat the Celtics on the way to a Championship. Celtics had won the last 8 titles.

But no team has ever played and defeated the three previous conference champions on the way to a title.

Thunder's road to the NBA Championship:

Dallas (2011 champs)
Lakers (2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010 champs)
Spurs (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 champs)

And Heat (2006) or Celtics (2008).

The only champion not represented since MJ and the Bulls 1998 championship is Pistons (2004). Dallas, LAL, and SAS are the only teams to represent the West since MJ's last title.

Since 1991, every NBA championship series has had at least 1 of these guys in it: MJ, Tim Duncan, Kobe, DWade, or Hakeem.

And that all could be wrong since I haven't double checked my work.

Might outta include Shaq in that list as well..

The point is to limit the list to as few players as possible.

The list may be need to be short, but you can't leave Shaq off of that list. He has 5 under his belt in that time span which is more than Duncan, Dwade, and Hakeem.

Sure you can leave him off the list. He isn't needed for the discussion, even though he was great and a Finals MVP.

Also, Shaq only has 4 titles. 3 with the Lakers and 1 with the Heat.

Yes I know he has only won 4, but even I forgot about 1 more Finals appearance, which is what we were discussing. He has actually played in 6, not 5 as I previously stated. 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2006. Kinda hard to exclude him if you ask me, that is an 11 year stretch.

From '99 to '07, Shaq or Duncan were in the Finals...

Not that it really matters, but it is pretty impressive when you really stop and think about it.

You can eliminate dwade and include shaq and the list is the same number of people.

I am a long suffering Thunder fan (heh). But Pop is a GD badass. Love that guy. Amazing coach. His horses just don't have enough anymore.

But it doesn't matter. It doesn't add to, or take away from the point.

He's not really excluding him, he just clearly picked the first five names he thought of. Obviously shaq would have been a great choice for that, but again, it doesn't matter to the point.

No Shaq didn't play in 2011 and won't in 2012. The goal is to make the list as small as possible

Boy, this concept is really lost on some of you. Someone post the list of all players who have appeared in the Finals since 1991. Then no one gets left out.
