We have to be getting another center. We can't start camby. This excites me. You don't get rid of dalembert without knowing you can get someone else

i'm hoping they draft one. Howard literally would set this team back 5 years if he doesnt re-sign

I would like to pick up: josh smith, Eric Gordon and Noah. Drop: lowry, Martin, scola, and the rest of our picks. Get rid of lee only if gun to head to finish those deals

It sounds ridiculous, but at some point someone on the Lakers said "I've got this mcdouble with cheese that I thought I wanted but now I'm not hungry, and I want a top 5 big man. Lets see if anyone is interested."

Noah = 11 mil, smith = 12 mil, Gordon 4 mil. 27 mil total?? Lowry scola and 12 for smith. 16, and lee for Noah. Martin and 18 for Gordon

What in the hell does that last post mean

Noah makes 11mm, Josh Smith makes 12mm, and Gordon makes 4mm (I thought he was a free agent).

He wants to trade Lowry, Scola, and the #12 draft pick for Josh Smith.
The #16 pick and Courtney Lee for Noah.
The #18 pick and Kevin Martin for Eric Gordon.

3 out of 3 of those things will never happen.

Gordon is about to get paid, that's his rookie contract.

Good luck getting the best player from two franchises and a 10/10 + defense guy for picks and role players from a bad team.

Trading 2 spots up doesn't make me feel great about the prospects of Dwight Howard. It tells me that the Rockets are having a really difficult time jumping into the top 10. That said, I do think a big trade is imminent and it'll be for Gasol, not Howard.

Didn't just move two spots, also freed up cap space.

This is basketball, not sure why some people think if Houston got Howard and he didn't re-sign that it would set you back for five years. Let's say you get him and go to the playoffs next year. If that happens you lose the rights to your first round pick.

So, after not re-signing, 2013-2014 would be the first year of being set back. That year, they would be horrible, no doubt. But, as a result, they likely get a top 4 pick. If you draft well, then the next year you get maybe a top 8 pick. By year three, if you are drafting well and have the right people in place, there is no reason you aren't back to where Houston is right now.

I dont think anyone wants even a three year set back when have enough money and pieces to be something in two years at the latest.

Where exactly are we right now? A consistent .500 team for the past 3 years? Sorry, I don't want that anymore. The goal should be to build a team that can be good for multiple years, not gut the team in exchange for 1 year where me might be able to make a decent run. I'm with Yankees on this. If we somehow do trade for Howard I highly doubt he will want to stay in Houston a day longer than he has to. It's just not worth sacrificing our forseeable future for a guy who will most likely ditch us the second his contract expires

This thing needed to be blown up a long time ago instead of being a perennial back end of the lottery team that can't get any better. If it takes one year of Howard to start the rebuilding process, count me in. Anything is better than shuffling a roster full of role players.

I think I'm starting to lean towards not even going after Dwight, but lets consider if Orlando doesn't want to cut ties with him just yet anyway.

If the Rockets were able to trade up and get the #5 and #6 picks I feel like they could grab two players with all star potential and do so without giving up everything we've got.

Portland has made their interest in Lowry clear as have the Kings so lets assume the Rockets could send Kyle plus one of the three picks, preferably 18, to either team to get their pick. Even if they had to give up #12 or #16 I still feel like it's a trade worth making. After that we'd be left with two mid first picks to try and make a deal with the remaining team. With young assets like (Lee,Parsons,Patterson,Morris,Motiejunas) and the expiring contract of Martin the Rockets should be able to work out some type of a deal for the remaining pick. With both the picks in the deal I feel like an addition of Morris or maybe Motiejunas would be enough to seal the deal. Personally I'd really like to keep Parsons and Lee but if one had to go I'd give up Lee. Parsons ability to defend the new type of 6'8" scorers in this league is a huge asset.

If the Rockets mangaged this deal we would have the ability to draft two of these five players.

Beal
Barnes
MKG
Robinson
Drummond

You give me any two of those plus Scola, Dragic, Parsons, and the players that wouldn't be traded and thats not a bad mix of youth and experience. Not to mention all 5 of those players have very high ceilings and could develop into the type of star we are currently seeking.

I don't want Beal at all.

Overall, this draft doesnt excite me much. Maybe thats why i dont value the draft picks as much as i should. I dunno....

Losing Sam is no big deal. He is a bit overpaid at 7 mil and I dont think he can be the starting center on a good team.

The last month of the year Sam averaged 14 mins a game and Camby averaged 25. I think Morey is just planning on resigning Camby at the rate he payed Sam if nothing materializes.

Ag@Rice-

I think you are right on. I had expected the Rockets not to even pick up the club option for Dalembert anyways. So, getting anything for him to me is great.

Morey better get it figured out real quick. He hasn't in his multi-year term. Not sure why we should expect differently now.

Houston will package two of the picks and probably a player, move into the Top 8 (hopefully not for Drummond), and keep one of the mid-1st's.

At this point I will be happy if Houston is either able to make a trade for a star (not named Gasol) or is able to move up to get Kidd-Gilchrist or Barnes. If Houston does all of this to move up and take Drummond, I will be really disappointed. I think we would have just ended up drafting another Deandre Jordan in that case.
