Fed up with all the "speculation" and "potential trades"? seriously, when is something going to get DONE around here??

My question to yall is what is a REALISTIC, POSSIBLE move that will MOST LIKELY ACTUALLY happen?

IMO, Lowry, Martin, and Scola must be gone by the start of the season

I'm ready for something to happen as well

Welcome to the past few seasons under Morey.

The Rockets have been like an ankle that keeps getting sprained repeatedly without giving it any attention...you can function somewhat on it, but you're at about half-speed, maybe a little better, but it never seems to get as strong as it was before. It's time to do something dramatic, good or bad. They've been just competent enough to be maddening.

Yeah the Hornets GM was interviewed after the draft, and he said that Gordon was their most important piece to the puzzle and their #1 priority this offseason. They won't let him walk

Morey was a failure. Time to get a new GM with a focus on totally rebuilding the franchise via the draft. That is the only option back to relevance and the decision is being made many years too latealready.

If the Rockets can't get Howard, I fully expect to throw a near max deal at Gordon and force NO to match. There are also talks for a deal to sign and trade Gordon for Martin, Scola, and a few of the younger guys.

Because the Rockets offer more than what NO wants to pay so NO figures a way to get something out of the deal. They need some serious help at multiple positions.

If Nola doesn't wanna pay a young stud like Gordon then what makes you think they want scola and martins contracts?

If they want anything for Gordon, they'd have to sign and trade which means they'll have to take on at least one of Scola or Martin to make the money work.

Gordon=young up and coming stud worth $$$

Scola Martin= washed up role players worth crap but being paid $$$

Definitely i agree. Im just saying if Gordon is out of their price range, a package including martin or scola and some young players and draft picks is better than nothing. But i think they'll match whatever offer he gets.

I think there is a great chance Eric Gordon ends up being a Houston Rocket, but I think it will be a sign-and-trade. Houston will offer close to a max deal, which I expect NOLA to match. Then, I expect Houston to offer them Scola (veteran leadership), Lamb (additional scorer in the backcourt), Jones (added depth in the frontcourt) and Martin (expiring contract).

that literally makes no sense whatsoever from NOLA's POV -- they're going to match a max deal but then trade him? if they're gonna do that, why even match the max deal? and, before you say it, the reason isn't so they can collect that incredible haul of players from houston.

The main reason would be for a very large expiring contract that would be Kevin Martin. Teams will do a lot for expiring contracts. Plus, if Davis has a great year, it is quite possible guys are going to want to come play with him next season and now the Hornets have a lot of cap room with the large Martin contract coming off of the books.

maybe I'm just not fully grasping the benefits of the sign-a-guy-to-a-max-deal-then-trade-him-in-order-to-obtain-expiring-contract strategy

The only way this would work is if NOLA doesn't feel like Gordon is worth whatever Houston (or another team offers), but wants to get something in return. Martin would be a wing player that could help you this year and would be off of the books next season. Plus, you would get two first round picks in Lamb and Jones. If one of those two turns out to be good, then it might be a good deal for both sides. Now, if NOLA thinks Gordon is worth it, then the point is moot as they will just match and move on.

They were just talking about a possible Gordon deal on the radio with a host from New Orleans. New Orleans wants Martin and Chandler Parsons or other young "assets"

That's not good.

How is that not good? None of those teams next year will be in contention...He will sign with the Rockets.

If he considers winning as much as money, that is bad for the Rockets. They aren't on the 1 year plan.

Lakers are a lot closer and have historically retooled better than pretty much every team in the NBA. Also, they have a huge need for a PG.

Hornets and Lakers are the dangerous ones if he is weighting wins. The Hornets were terrible last year, but they have the potential to be the next OKC Thunder. The Lakers are a PG away from having a top 5 roster (on paper anyway). The Nets will in all likelihood have a 1-2 punch at PG next year, and the other teams are crap.

That's an owner problem, not GM.

As for Gordon, I'd do Lowry, Martin, and Jones for him.

Are they going to play Rivers as a PG or SG?

Another note the Rockets are looking at Goran's brother...so that will help the Rockets changes with Goran.

Dragic's brother has signed with the Rockets and will be on the summer league team. I would be shocked if Goran is not back next season with Lowery, Lee, Scola and Martin all gone.
