Like five players and a protected 1st rounder for Johnson. Also, if they sign DWill, they won't have enough money for Howard.

Atlanta also traded for Devin Harris's expiring contract - just cleared ~30mm 2013 capspace

Johnson has four years and $90 million left on his contract.
Add D-Will to that equation assuming he is staying put.

no D12 this year for the Nets.

which begs the question are the Rockets out of talks for a one year rental on D12? You would think so with the Asik talks and possible signing of Camby. I have stated that I think Morey has given up but I would leave Camby behind like a fart in the wind if I thought it meant we could have Howard for a year with Asik as backup.

I really like what Atlanta is doing. Ferry realized what was in place wasn't working and is blowing it up. Great decision in my opinion.

Since it seems like the Nets won't be able to sign D12, maybe he changes his stance and "allows" Magic to trade him to LA for Bynum? Win-Win for everyone? Except for my Rockets. I'd rather have Javale Mcgee(FA) or Tyler Zeller(could have drafted him at 16).. than Omar Asik, but I hope Morey shows me why he is the GM and not me

Is Danny Ferry a genius? If he can somehow get Paul, Howard and Smith in 2013, he gets my vote for GM of the year. Will be interesting to see how things shake out in the ATL.

Chris Broussard mentioned today that the Nets still could get Howard. (Howard for Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and the Nets' first-round picks in 2013, 2015 and 2017)

That would mean that the Nets could roll out.

Yeah, if Brooklyn could pull that off, they should be a top 4 team in the East for sure. Not sure how much talent they could put around those guys with the new CBA rules. Wouldn't those four players take up just about the entire cap?

because the sign an trade would be like a lesser player (Gerald Wallace) and maybe a second round pick for dwight's new contract. The knicks did this with David Lee, the raptors did this with Chris Bosh and the Cavs did this with LeBron.

sign and trades protect the team that is trading for particular player. Lets say you give up a ton for Howard, then in a year, find out he is not reupping with you.

The nets should learn from the knicks mistake on Carmelo Anthony. Everyone knew he was bluffing about signing that extension, but the knicks were stupid enough to trade their entire roster for him

Could they not work out a condition to the trade that D12 reup or the trade is void, much like the Joe Johnson trade being conditional to DWill resigning?
